View Full Version : Thoughts on new faction colors on maps?

So the last patch seems to have turned NC to blue, Vanu to purple and TR to red on the main map. Now this caused some great confusion when looking at the main map and then looking at the mini map as TR are red on the main map. When the NC are blue on main. Yea... So I changed the faction colors (which change on hud and mini map if not main map). TR are now red and the NC and Vanu blue/purple on main map, mini map and on my main screen. Now I just need to teach myself that red is friendly and not enemy.
Case in point, having this change forced on me got my feathers a little ruffled and had to change the settings to make sense of things when default settings should help avoid confusion, not add to it. So how have the new color changes affected you guys?

Almost got grief locked after I first logged in from the change, 'cos for me it went to the default color scheme where your friendlies are blue and both enemy factions are red. Then I realized something was wrong when I looked through the scope and the colors didn't match.

I hate it when my color scheme is fucked with. You could really tell that it was messing with other people as well, I saw more friendly fire incidents with this change than ever; at least for the first day or two.
Now people seem to have more or less adjusted. I've just gotten used to the fact that the TR are a different color on the minimap than they are on my actual map (and the same color as what I've set one of my squads to).

Had me going  for a bit while I tried figuring out why I couldn't change it back to how it was before.

Was messing with me at first and I tried playing with different color settings but ended up using defaults. I'm fairly used to it now though. I'm not sure if it really helps anything all that much. Guess it's nice to be able to tell which faction is where on the main map. Not sure about that though cause you typically don't have all 3 factions in the same area.

As far as I know I've been using empire-specific colors pretty much since the beginning, so I didn't notice any difference.

Same change as they did several Patches ago. They did change it back, now I don't know why they have done it again. At least give us the option to change it back.............

What I like better about this patch is the mini-map screw ups. Anyone else had spawn beacons flying around for ESFs?

I've always had it set on faction colors (I like to know whether I'm dealing with VS or NC before getting too close, since the two require very different approaches), so I saw no difference. Except the occasional terminal icon running around like an infantryman, I did notice that.

I've always kept VS as purple and TR as red when I play as them. :F I guess I'm just weird.
*Edit* Although I did have to chance the Vanu back to hot pink on the main map, just doesn't feel right any other way. :P
