I can't imagine why anyone would want to be a vanu infantry. Sure they might have instant hit anti vehicle weapons but their anti infantry weapons have disadvantages to every other infantry weapon except the suppressor. Cycler has faster rate of fire, NC has the same speed as pulsar but higher damage, and the punisher has a rocket launcher attached.

VS-Less Recoil, therefore their weapons are a bit more accurate, and you can fire longer bursts with VS weapons than with others. Also, there's that handy little feature that lets you switch between normal and AP rounds with the flip of the switch.

I aint gonna use many empire specific weapons anyway, I like smg:s but does the Suppressor really suck that much? Please can any beta tester tell me if the supressor sux or not?

Actually, I'd guess the suppressor wouldn't be that bad at all. It has low recoil, it comes with a silencer, and a fast rate of fire (faster than the Punisher, according to the weapon descriptions). It won't kill a tank or anything, but it'll do fine against infantry. And, you don't have spend any certs on it. Not a bad deal.

I don't know about you guys, but I'll be carrying around a pulsar AND a punisher in my reinforced armor. I don't really think a suppressed rifle will be very effective. It never really helps, and its weaker. Unless you wanted to go in a stealth mission, it's not very good. And even in a stealth mission, you'd want to use an infiltration suit, which can't carry a rifle. I don't think it'll be used much except for when people respawn.

First off, thats normal reinforced armor. Take alook at the screen shots, or atleast the close ups.

Second, vanu weaponry will be great. Low recoil, high rate of fire, and damaging. What more could you want?

third, if i went vanu i wouldnt use anything that required me to get different types of ammo. For pulsar and punisher you would need energy cells, normal rounds, ap rounds and grenades. That would just suck.

The Suppressor's got to have a use, or else I can't imagine why it would be in the game at all. And I think that NeoDrgnMech hit on that use when he mentioned that it costs nothing. That's pretty meaningless if you're a dedicated grunt, because you'll be decked out in machineguns and grenade launchers. But what about the wheelmen and flyboys (and wheelwomen and flygirls, I guess) who are going to be spending all of their cert points on learning how to drive? They'll still need a reasonable weapon. And thanks to the Suppressor, they've got a decent assault rifle to fill the slot on their armor, and it's free. And aren't the best things in life always free?

It all comes down to skill more than anything, in any good FPS you can 0wn equally with any weapon.

Well, not necessarily. If you really compare the Suppressor and Punisher, the Suppressor actually looks a little better vs. Infantry than the Punisher.

Note: This is going off of the rather general weapon descriptions. "Medium" doesn't really say much.

Firstly, They both do the same about the amount of damage, neither has an advanage there. The Suppressor has a slightly higher RoF. Recoil is low on both. The Punisher has a slightly longer range (not sure if it says this is because of the RL though..).

From this, I'd say that the Suppressor's probably better in an indoor environment, where you'd mostly be fighting infantry at a close/medium range. The Punisher is better for a more frontline outdoor environment, where you'll expect to see vehicles to use that nifty rocket launcher on.

Soooo, yeah. It'll have a use. The guy with the AMP on the fileplanet video seemed to be doing fine, so a guy with a Suppressor shouldn't have any problems.

Oh yeah...

my guess is the guy in the screenie is in the vr traing area. If you look at the screens from one of the beta journal, you'll see eveyone is covered with that sheild. Either that or as it was said, the sheild implant. Unfortunalty we dont have any shots of a confermed sheild implant so we are forced to guess :confused:
