Pretty much. I've gotten to the point where I actually believe it's being deliberately set to drop you into hopeless situations.
I've lost count of the times where there's been multiple 24 vs 24 battles that Instant Action has ignored, only to drop me into a final seconds of catastrophic, hopeless loss at 12 vs 48+.
I can't imagine this feature helps new players at all. They'd be better off just redeploying.

As a (relatively) new player I can honestly say I've only ever used this once. And even though I'm a bit more savvy now I much prefer to redeploy and suss out what is going on before picking a fight. And don't get me wrong here, I don't mind jumping into an unbalanced situation, but I'd rather weigh up the odds myself and then decide.
And if you're with your outfit chums, I don't think you'd ever use instant action.
If I have to go "Rambo," I would sooner check out where the game reckons reinforcements are needed...

The problem is that there's no limit on the action. Meaning it doesn't take numbers into account. Now if it was re-done to check numbers in territory, that might help. Except people like to spawn room camp, which doesn't change the numbers, which leads to people using instant action being cut off from everyone else. Once spawn rooms are fixed maybe instant action will have some use.
I was lucky on my first instant action. I actually got into a good, even fight. But more often then not... *Looks up at the vid*

I used to get good IA drops, usually into a front-line battle if there is one. Only lately has it been consistently retarded on me, like dropping into an uncappable area to back up a squad that's been cut off and pretending they're a diversion to an enemy force that has, for the most part, already moved on.

I'm NC and I never use Instant action.
Yesterday on Miller I clicked "Instant action" by accident and din't regret :) I was droppoded on top of a very high rock just behind a 4 crouching! VS heavies.
That was the funniest execution I had in this game. 4 headshots from behind into heads of those 4 poor VS players. 4th one actually noticed that something is wrong but it was too late.
They defenetelly didn't expect an enemy in thair position because it is hard to get to that rock otherwise.
Instant action WTF!!!

be better off just redeploying.
TIP: You can press 'Redeploy' right after the Instant Action countdown has completed (as soon as the 'Loading' screen appears) and the 10 seconds for the redeploy to happen will complete while you are still dropping in the pod from the Instant Action and before you even hit the ground you will have redeployed. I do this a lot when I know the odds are against me but I want to get to the area the IA is sending me quickly. I can then simply spawn at a close friendly base.

Yeah, they nedd to give the mechanic a bit more thought. I normaly just get droped on a slope were i either cant get up to the battle or where fall dmaage kills me when i want to get down.

At one point instant action was a good way to get into a fun fight.
What faction of players feel they get an improved game experience since the changes?

Instant action is a perfect thing for lone wolf infiltrator. Yesterday I used Instant action as an infiltrator for 4 hours in a row and this thing 90% of times were dropping me in the middle of the fight behind enemy lines - perfect position for sniping or for hacking enemy turrets and attacking them from behind.

I was checking the bases on the PTS. I tried to "instant action" from the Ascent in hopes of getting to further bases. What base does it go to? The Ascent....
They should just give players option to 'pay' resources to go to far bases. If it's not on the redeploy menu, allow players 'use' resources as an alternate sink. The further it is, the more it costs!

Are resource boosts still in the game? Haven't checked in a while. If so: no, bad idea. I would even say that no matter what, with the current resource model it's a bad idea either way. It would only benefit a certain kind of players (the good ones) and hurt others (the not so good ones)
