a new skin+ make faster
1 seat = pilots + small gun forward gun
2 seat= navigator & missiles + Shredder-like rear looking gun
for some sweet dogfighting actions at 500 meters and climbing
in addition
buff and/or nerf the current ESF into ground support role
and we've got the beginnings of a eco-system going....

2-seater jets are soo BF2... No need to add them, they are OP, old and redundant and add an extra option for small groups.
Why do we need small groups in PlanetSide 2? It's about the scale! Go join some big outfit if you want teamplay. If you don't want to join it - it's your problem.

appreciate the feedback.
TL;DR at the bottom
as much as i dislike twitch shooters, some things they didn't do all wrong.
like the ecosystem of vehicles that are strong vs 1 type, but weak against another (tank < tank buster < ground assault flyer < air superiority flyer < AAA tank < tank)
and, the need for an ASF is actually the toon leader in me talking.
be it for a scouting run (need more speed than the current ESFs) or simply to keep the bombers or troop transporters off my head (or the eventual ground assault vehicles) - ESF's aren't focused enough to do those jobs effectively- those tunnel vision nuts piloting them are as likely to provide air cover as they are to go after a ground target of opportunity.
I want to know that if i have jets above me, that's a layer i can consider covered.
TL;DR ASF are a niche that isn't properly covered. a 2 seater would simply make less BS2 and more PS2

Turns out, some people like to be in small groups as part of a larger effort. Teams of two scale just as linearly as individuals. Don't be a ass.

Did you mean to post this in ideas/suggestions?
That said what you described is fulfilled by the Liberator vehicle in game. It has a front gun and the secondary gunner has a shredder and tail gun to use.

It's not me being an ass, it's me being sarcastic.

Gods above, I can't tell who's being what anymore. It might be time for a forum break.

The fact that you can read what I said as something other than sarcasm is very saddening. It becomes more and more apparent that people exist who think PS2 doesn't have room for small squads.
2-seater aircraft is a step in a way to make them disapointed. And SOE doesn't want to disapoint far-left and far-right wings by adding something that is "too small scale, not PlanetSide, omgCoD" and at the same time "Too complex, not needed, is not like CoD, WTF?".

I just don't see the need for another dedicated air superiority fighter. The Mossie/Reaver/Scythe has taken on the role the Wasp used to fill. Unfuck A2A if the balance is whack before adding a different vehicle to the mix.
Otherwise, it's possible to use Shredder Libs in that role, as long as the AA isn't overwhelming and you're able to actually engage your target.

I'd love to see a slightly larger ESF with a back gunner, put something like a ranger(but a bit better :P) on the back with a low arc of movement for being chased. Basically low damage output but decent staying power, area denial rather than killing machine.

Which is kinda the problem. It's the Mosquito, Reaver and Wasp all rolled up into one package. How do you add in another vehicle to fill a role that the ESF doesn't already fill.
Versatility ftw:/
Imo, Higby's choice is going to bite them in the ass at some point in the future.

I kinda like the idea of a 2-seat fighter. Needs careful balancing though:
It should wipe the floor with any BR 100 single seat. Team up or die.
It should reward coordination skills over twitch skills: A poorly coordinated top ace twin seater should be no match for a well-coordinated mediocre pilot twin seater.
I havent read up on the PS2 development lately, so I need to ask, is this real footage from the testserver/from the Dev team? or is it a home made suggestion?
because a rumble seat outside of an airplane, has this been done since WW1? and how does it logically fit in a jet figther world where enemies have homing missiles and lasers? who would willingly sit on the wings of an airplane?? so many questions my brain hurts!

Running into a heavy with a striker on the front of a mozzie would be fun...

It almost sounds like the Striker is even relevant at the moment.

I said it since launch and I'll say it now. A vehicle that can be AA, AI, AV all in one loadout will never be balanced. To quote something someone said long ago, "Imagine if the lightning could equip the HE, AV and Skyguard all at the same time and people would say, - That's how it's supposed to be!"
