Chatting Question

How will the chat system work in the game? Will you be able to speak globally? Is it on a range system? Outfit/squad ony? Well you get the idea...how will it work?

I think it will be ranged around you and you can /tell people and you can talk to all squad no global though

Not entierly true, very high level commanders get wide-band, continent and eventually global broadcasts.

ive got a question too, can you taunt the enemy? or can you only talk to your teamates....its probly a noob question but i never really thought about it till now

you can not talk to teh enemy...just your empire

blast! taunting the enemy is so much fun, i guess that will cut down on arguments and spamming and such though..oh well, hopefully they have the "rude gesture" animation from EQ at least lol

Yeah, the only taunts you'll have are local animation taunts. You can't talk with people on opposing empires at all, besides the localized sound that plays with animations, which enemies will be able to hear.

Although I suppose you could write messages in the wall with your machine gun ;). That'd take a long time, alot of ammo, and even more patience, not to mention you'd both have to have alot of bulletholes enabled (if it's anything like Ghost Recon, where you can choose the max amount of bullet holes you see).

Squad and empire no global

Im sure they are going to have a system just like everquests, with /shout for people in your vacinity, /tell for prvt messages, and /gu (well in eq gu is for guild so it would probably be /ou or something :))

At the very beginning you can see with his chat thing there are little icons with a satellite and stuff, that is how many options you have.
