Kinda new to PS, just got accepted into the open beta and liking what I'm hearing and reading so far! The game sounds fantastic!
I just wanted to say hello and get to know some people.

I also wanted some imput on the various factions. Looking forward to getting into battle with you all!

Terran were the people who found the planet. After the planet was cut-off from the rest of the Terran groups starting forming with different views about the newly found alien (Vanu) technology. The Terran limited the technology from the people (since they are the 'big brother' corporation), the Vanu Sovereignty wanted to explore and use it and the New Conglomerate just seemed to pop up out of no-where to take down the Terran. Im pretty sure the official word for the NC vs the VS is that the NC think they are 'freaks'. :D

Terran : very fast output. 'Spray and Pray'.

New Conglomerate : The brute force guys. Biggest gun (Vanguard), best MAX armor (plus special ability is a personal shield) but their empire weapons are shotguns, limiting their range somewhat.

Vanu : From what ive read its more of an average between the two. Good accuracy with decent damage, but beams of light will probably be a 'Im Here!' signs. Even if all bullets have tracers. :D
Note : Some of VS vehicles are hover-craft, alowing better maneuverability.

Just my thoughts.

On a serious note, i must kill you for getting in Open Beta now.

TR has the biggest and baddest guy or at least that's what I've heard. They tend to favor a high rate of fire to anything else. "Filling the air with more lead than your opponent has "atoms. Max can ground itself and shoot faster

The NC have the really big guns that tend to do the most damage per round. This includes their tank and buggy. They also seem to like shotguns. Max has a shield so they can kill at their own leasure

The VS use energy weapons which provides them with a great deal of versatility since they can switch to AP rounds very quickly (at higher energy cost though) and they're max can jump. They are the only empire whose empire specific vehicles can cross water.

Ultimately it depends on play style and what your friends are playing. But that's just my opinion

if you choose by ideology, then

TR = reclaim the NC and VS back into the empire

NC = freedom

VS = technology

if you choose by color, then

TR = red

NC = yellow

VS = green

if you choose by fighting style, then

TR = fastest rate of fire with the most ammunition

NC = biggest shots, slowest rate of fire(bad with lag)

VS = homing, mobility

Go with TR and go with my outfit (click here for the website (http://www.blackopswales.co.uk)), TR have the best vehicles and colour scheme. The Vanu are a bit, well... weird, so please don't go them. Please.

As far as the NC go, well, since when has it been a good thing for a soldier to get more yellow as he/she goes up in rank?

Besides, Nikita (http://www.blackopswales.co.uk/members/nikita.html) is fed up being the only girl in my outfit and she wants company.

NC:best max armour?????? Thats only ur opinion, right? Personnel shield isnt the best special abbility, not vanus or Terrans abbility either, noone has the best special abbility!
The best spec abillity is everyones own opinion.

NC: omfg their empire has 1.5 shotguns, NOT 5! 1.5 is the 1 for jackhammer and 0.5 for the mag-scatter, which is a pistol+shotgun.
They have 2 weapons that is 4 long range, pheonix- rocket and gauss- long range rifle. So they arent short range.

VS: "SOME of their vehicles are hover"
Well not really, ALL (2) of their vehicles are hover, they can strafe and go over water.

Now, where should i start. Decisions, decisions.

1. Of course these are all my opinions. Just like your response was yours.

2. The last screenshots i saw showed the TR and VS MAXs as 650 armor while the NC MAX was 850. Considering i havent been paying much attention to PS lately that could have changed.

3. NC MAXs do have the best armor even if all 3 MAXs are 650 since the NC MAX has the personal shield, which might effectivly double its 'armor' value. Please point out where i said it was the best. (FYI I dont like the NC special ability, anyways)

4. Each Empire has its own unique weapons. Thats what i meant by "Empire weapons". Looking at it now i probably should have changed my wording to say some are shotguns but i was only trying to get my view across to Sarah. I didnt know that some of the Official forum posters have made their way to PSU. Im sorry. Really.

5. Im sorry i didnt know the exact number of VS vehicles that could hover. I put some there since i knew a couple could, but didnt want to give false numbers. Im really very sorry and hope you didnt have a heart attack from seeing that i dont know PS inside and out.

This was in my last post, which already rendered your flame pointless, but ill put it in simple terms, just for you.

VS: The evolution of mankind, thru the combination of man and machine. And thus evolving into a race of super humans, for the better of all mankind.

Most unbiased description I can give.

TR: Not evil really, just a bit oppresive and controlling about who does what.

NC: They want democracy, justice, freedom of speech, that kind of thing.

VS: A bunch of guys who like playing around with highly advanced alien technology. Possibly ripping a hole in space-time, opening a black hole, destroying the universe as we know it, etc.
But hey, no biggie, right?

Also, they want to get rid of the human soul (if you believe in that sort of thing) by turning everybody into cyborgs.

Theres a day/night cycle, but not sure if its different across all continents (like the Earth) or if its just the same.

Some screenies also show some dense fog, rain, etc.

I also find that humorous, Matuse. If Sarah was a guy, everyone would call her a newb, and that she took "their beta spot". Too funny. I've actually already seen that happen, a guy saying he just saw the game and was accepted into beta. Man that guy was cussed out a ton on official forums.

I am going to be going Vanu for these reasons:

1. Uniform ammo type- The Vanu empire weapons all use energy instead of regular and armorpiercing bullets, allowing a Vanu soldier to switch quickly between different types of targets.

2. Hovering ability- The vanu-specific crafts have the ability to hover, which allows the user to ford some bodies of water and to be much more mobile than the other 2 empires. In turn, by being mobile, the user has more room for skill in maneuverability rather than trusting in sheer firepower to smite opposition.

3. Lasher - To me, this sounds like the gun that requires the most skill in the game. From what I have read, it sounds similar to Unreal Tournament's bio-rifle, where the shooter must time when to shoot and judge projectile speed vs. target movement. The reward? I assume a direct hit with the lasher's projectile will do devastating damage. In the event of a slight miss, the lasher will 'lash' out and still strike the targt, doing still a little damage.

Choosing an empire and outifit is pretty easy, just choose what you value most in life. ie personal freedoms (NC) the strict but fair and stable system of life (TR) or the technoligical corruption of mankind and the destruction of the universe as we know it (VS).
You can obivously see which empire im biased against!

the good thing about PS is that you can really get into the game (just go to the recruting section of the forums and go to the thread Terran reign must end and youll see what im talking about)

Personally, I think that if you intend on paying a monthly fee, one of the ideologies of the side had BETTER appeal to you, or you simply don't care enough about the game to justify the money spent.

The happy elf just has trouble distancing games from reality, and thinks that if you believe something about an empire in the game, you practice it IRL as well.

I pretty much knew I'd sound like a dick. Of course I was half joking ;)

I simply believe if you're playing the game for enjoyment why not pick the side who's weapons and vehicles appeal the most to you. Or maybe the side your outfit will be playing on. Failing that try them all out and stick with the one that suits you. Only problem with rying them out is that, well, you have to start over evertime you decide to try the greener grass.

If you play NC, you're not fighting for the independence of the silent masses of textured polygons. You're fighting to shoot the members of the opposing teams and hopefully get to do some fun and cool shit while you're at it.

If you're playing TR you're not playing to stop a rebellion and restore untity, you're playing to shoot the members of the opposing teams and hopefully get to do some fun and cool shit while you're at it.

If you're playing Vanu...well...you're purple :p Actually before I talked to my outift Vanu appealed the most to me. I like futuristic shit and Vanu has a ton of it. The purple thing didn't bother me all that much because it's a good purple. Now if it was lavender I'd see what all the bitching was about. But as I'm goin NC it appears the thing to do is make cracks about the color...or something.


In short there a much better ways to pick a side than the imaginary ideology dreamt up to give a FPS some semblace of plot. Not to say PS has a dumbshit plot like some FPSs (*cough* Quake/Doom *cough*). But then again if that's an important thing to you by all means allow it to influence your choice. It's your $10-1$5 a month, I have no say in what you do with it, nor should I ;)
