I do :)
Placing the sunderer in a critical point to allow NC zerg to attack a tough base and keeping that sunderer alive at the same time supporting zerg with supplies , repairs and revives. So much fun and that ding, ding, ding sounds every time someone spawn on yer sunderer.

I play lone wolf about 90% of the time, and of the other 10%, 8% of it is playing with NUC, and the other 2% is with NNG.
(Both amazing outfits.)
So, do I enjoy playing on my own? When I play VS, yes.
When I play TR? well...
You know those ceremonial Viking helmets that Vikings never actually wore? Well most of the time when I play TR on my own, it feels like I'm taking one of the horns on a helmet like that and shoving it into my ass, while the other horn is simultaneously being inserted into my penis. The helmet is then worn by a large man. The man goes onto a merry-go-round, all while my genitals and anus are still impaled atop this master beast. The momentum of the spinning carousel causes an intensely painful stretching of my rectal and penile organs.
That's what playing lone wolf TR on Waterson feels like to me.
Thank you.

I always play alone:

What is the most used class by lonewolfs? I am guessing Infil for the sniping.

I play alone a lot, NC on Mattherson. My play time is so late and erratic I feel guilty joining a squad/platoon if I'm not paying full attention or going on extended, unannounced AFKs. Most often I'll just load up Heavy and attach to a squad, acting as cannon fodder, or else supporting armor zerg with an Engy and ammo Sundy.

I enjoy "lonewolf" when my outfit are not online (and sometimes when they are).
Mostly as sniper (I'm not good enough to be a true infiltrator).
But I also like to go medic or engi at Biolabs and Towers, keeping those players better than me going for as long as possible. And it pays the bills ;)

Well, thats me! :rolleyes::groovy:
I'm mostly defending, i tend to run around like a headless chicken during attacks, because i do not know the terrain...and get shot fast, so thats not funny and i'm not helpful in any way.
I do not jump in tanks, because i'm such a bad shot, so nobody looses his tank because of me...
which leaves infil, engi and HA for me.
Because of time constraints i am playing not enough in my outfit, plus i'm not feeling being very helpful....
so, yep, i like the lone wolf in fights 12+, 1v1 i loose nearly all the time, so i avoid that....

I play solo on my NC, its a totally different play style, basically you don't have the back up of a squad e.g for repairs/rez, secondary gunners. The main advantage is you can go pretty much anywhere on the map and jump around at will a lot faster as its just you. I can understand the attraction to some but PS is built around being a team game your better off in an outfit squad, but I guess some people may not be that social or have there own personal reasons for soloing.

I think that question is phrased wrong. It should be:
Do you find yourself playing lone wolf more in an attempt to get some enjoyment out of the game?
Answer: Yes
I find I have to lone wolf in order to be allowed to play skyguard more to shoot down OP galaxies and now liberators.
I find the the bulk of the good squad & platoon leaders have left the game months ago.
I find leading tools inadequate, and don't want to lead squads & platoons myself anymore. (And those tools are pathetically "tentatively" scheduled for July.)
I find I only want to play in the most defensible bases I can find on Amerish and no where else, and squads lead me where I don't want to go.
I find I don't want to follow zerg-fits.
I find I want to take objectives, not fight in an xp farm with the capture point insulated by an enemy zerg.
I find I just don't want to leave Amerish.
I find a dozen reasons these days to lone wolf then play the game in a way that should be considered normal.

I almost always play lone wolf, because although I miss the backup of a good squad it's just easier to get into the game and find a fight on your own - and there's none of the waiting around that's involved in group play.
Regardless of whether I'm solo or in a squad, I generally play as a Medic - although I play all of the classes from time to time (Infil least). I used to spend a lot of time tanking, but these days I just ground-pound. It feels like the most honest way of earning xp ;)
As for whether I enjoy it... well... I still want to like PS2, and I generally have some fun playing it - but it's often hard to find fights that are even vaguely even, and PS2 just isn't any fun at all when the odds are tipped too far either way.

Sadly my outfit opted out of PlanetSide 2 a few months back so when I get the chance to play lately I play lone wolf and don't really mind it. I play as an infil which is probably the best lone wolf class imo.

Yup!
Even when I was in an outfit I played lone wolf. Then one day I discovered they'd kicked me several months back. I was sad so I killed extra enemy that day.
I play all classes and generally try to take up the slack in whichever fight I end up in. eg. if we are getting pounded by air, I will dedicate to AA work including respawning 2-3 bases away to grab a skyguard. So I suppose I'm still playing for the team, just on my own terms. Lone wolfing also saves me a lot of ulcers, if an outfit decides my balanced-fun fight needs to be won by numbers I just /suicide and go somewhere else. Fight an obvious no-win situation? I'm gone. No debate. Not drama. No stress.
I suppose the one thing I miss as a lonewolf is using my tank. I will never pull a tank unless I am guaranteed a gunner. Otherwise its just a fat, slow lightning. Oh, and Liberators. That was a thing I miss too.

Yea I'll play lone wolf during the day when my outfit are not online.
I like it. I play differently. I generally choose bases being hacked with even or outnumbred pop and I play more slowly and cautiously whereas with the outfit I play more for the objective - the difference difference is a matter of degree so I get better kills by playing solo.
Generally my solo class is heavy, I'm playing with the NS15-M and liking it a lot.

Solo for the most part. I still enjoy playing PS2.
I've done outfits, but found that gameplay lacking for myself and my opinion of what I thought needed to be focused on and whomever was in charge of the squad/platoon at the time weren't always the same. So instead of worrying about it I just run solo and help my faction in the way I deem best utilizing all the classes and vehicles according to the situation. I also play better knowing I don't have any dedicated support. Also if I have to get off in a hurry or step away for a bit I don't have to sweat leaving my squadmates in a lurch.

Sadly opting out seems to be a growing trend for organized outfits. Instead we get johnnycomelately with his handful of friends in CoD'esque "outfits". Kinda the shape of things to come on PS4 too I think. Do you think larger organized outfits will come back once more of a global strategic layer is implemented? I am skeptical but since nothing like PS2 is out there it might be it's saving grace but I don't think the PS4 community will gave an appreciation for it. They would probably be happy with each region being instanced for arena-like play.

The ship may have already sailed for some outfits ever returning, but if SOE pulls their head out of their ass and implement a meaningful meta game, I believe we would see many return to at least give it a go.
As to the PS4 crowd..who knows. That is a huge pool of consumers to paint with the same brush. I would hope once they have a taste of PS2 and its scale, they may realize they're is much more out there. Throw in a qualitative meta game as well?

The direction this game took for competitive gaming made outfits no more than slightly organized pubs for me. I can get more out of randomly selecting an open outfit to use their spawning and doing my own thing than listening to some wanna-be bark orders for a battle that doesn't matter anyway.
That said, when I do play, I lone wolf. I just don't play that much any more. I am still waiting for a purpose to the game - and that wont happen until we get something other than XP to mean something.

The most fun lone wolving I have is making a trash character and going all sorts of high risk/ no reward kamikaze missions with it. Sometimes that will get you into amazing situations. After the session I delete the character to prevent myself caring for its stats. It feels really liberating playing that way and I wish there was an option to not have your stats tracked.

Welcome to the minority then because most players tend to care more about their character and its stats, even if they pretend not to or don't want to, the longer they play with it and build it up. It's a very natural human behavior often referred to as attachment. It's what drives MMO's as a genre.
It's also the very reason why promoting TDM stats, like this game does, stimulates kill farming in this game.

All I do is lone wolf. I like to bounce from fight to fight because the only fights that I enjoy are the ones that are relatively balanced (I try to avoid anything that has over a 60/40 advantage for either side). Being in an outfit is a pretty big hindrance to this. I play LA and Infil.
Also Wraith Flash trolling is best trolling.

Well I solo all the time and I am almost always redeploying on resecure's . So to add to my difficult play style the fact that I'm not that great of a player has made me accept that I probably will never have a k/d over 1.
But still I enjoy the game. I can play the game my way and at my pace. No pressure no worrying about my stats. Just try what I can to help my empire and enjoy the game.

Apart from a rare game on Waterson with my clan/outfit buds, I play solo on Woodman mostly.
I did hang with a great outfit on Woodman briefly but decided it was not for me.
When I say 'solo' I actually mean rolling with some team mates and achieving the same objectives, but without all the orders and chatter!
If my response to 'move to this position' is WTF?, I am free to read the map myself and 'move to a better position'!
Also, I find that when I follow orders I die. Frequently! Going Lonewolf helps me to (stay alive) get in a zone and kill enemy, which is more of an advantage to my team.
Come on NC:)

What makes you think the majority of players care about their stats? I'm inclined to disagree, honestly.

I lone wolfed as a sniper. Cue stupid sniper nerf which makes semi automatics MORE effective at longer range then a fucking BOLT! (along with reduced overall range). Cue snipers being even more useless on the battlefield (which is what people complain about it seems). Cue no logic (eg: Now they're less annoying but more useless?). Cue rage quit. You tell me.
So glad PS1 is going free to play (Snipers may not one hit kill there but at least it was like that FROM THE START and didn't make past weapons USELESS).

I lonewolf more than I intend to, but I do it as HA or Eng most of the time... maybe LA if I am defending against just infantry.
To be honest, I have a lot more fun lonewolfing it. Nothing against squadding up, in fact I pop into some of the pubbie ones every once in a while.
I mostly play infiltrator and light assault.

Honestly the stats he posted suggest that he doesnt care.
When I see stats like that I assume they are being posted simply to share the guys in game name and maybe to let other posters know that he has played the game enough to have awareness and knowledge of the game.

the majority of my playtime, and 100% of the most enjoyable playtime, is just me and my gunner in the lib. i think that still counts as lonewolfing, although it's in a squad of just us two, and maybe with tail gunner more recently.
if it grows beyond that, even adding in a mossie or another lib team, the chatter and teamwork-pressure drains the fun out of it. joining a full on outfit-ops platoon with the wanna be military guy barking orders... the truth is i either mute that guy, turn down platoon VOIP, or leave platoon.
this goes a bit beyond the original proposition, but it further explains why i lonewolf. a certain percent of players take this game way too seriously. it's like they have their real job where some guy tells them what to do all day, then they come home and they have their hobby-job where some guy tells them what to do all night. next they need like a hobby for their hobby-job, to relieve the stress from their hobby-job. i guess that is why there's crafting in MMORPGs.
anyway, we have found that we perform best when we are unburdened by command. we have the most fun, we get the most kills/score/what-have-you, and have the most effect on the map, when we go where we want and do what we want.
if we do play on the ground we usually join random platoons that seem to be doing what we want to do. like we'll go where they go, more or less, but never listen to the idiot in command. that's sort of a given. and i still think of it as lonewolfing.

I play lonewolf but some time ago I was enjoying joining pub Platoon led by Zhukov on Miller
This guy not only gives orders like military but he also constantly talking trying to inspire us to fight harder to win.
But recently I do not see him often on the Planetside that is sad.

Yep Lone wolf also. That way I remain flexible and do what I want. I will, however, do my best at helping our faction, seeing where needs more support and what I can do to help and pull whatever vehicle or class that I think would be the most useful.
If I receive a squad/platoon invite, then I generally accept and follow the orders if I feel the leadership is good and I agree with his thinking. Otherwise I'll leave.

What is wrong with cloak? Stalker cloak is awesome. I get 5-10 kills with a pistol before I die with it :) So cool.

Same situation with me, I usually don't play until 9/8c, sometimes later. Most outfits will do their ops an hour prior to that and all that is left is half a squad by the time the op is done.

Yeah, this is what kills it for me. Too many wannabe armchair commanders. Many of these guys probably would wash out the first week of basic. As a US Army veteran, I get a kick out of these guys every once in a while. Worst ones are the 12 year olds.
