Typically such major launches are proceeded by about 6 months of hype. Well it is now the 7 month of this year so I am wondering where is any sort of inkling about a launch date for this year like they insist on happening?

I am frustrated also. Its actually been 12 months since the first announcement. ..but whos counting right!? Matt Higby said today on PS2 stream that the dev snd UI I tegration was coming along. He said theres been more progress in those areas since E3 and they should have more progress by SOE LIVE. Im hoping they will have some kind of significant announcement at SOE LIVE....like a beta date or release date. Personaly I cant see it launching before September....sadly:(

The longer it takes to launch the better for us I reckon. It increases the lifespan of the franchise as a whole.
The PS4 install base gets larger.
PS2 gets more refined and filled out.
And not to sound pessimistic, if PS2 were to launch now and fail, SOEs investment in PS2 on any platform would likely diminish.
I dearly hope it launches in a good state and is a roaring success but a later release is probably better for us in case that's not the case.
But my sympathies to the console owners who are impatient to get their hands on it.

You know what it takes for SOE to keep building this great game....

I can totally understand the lengthy time it has taken (taking) to optimize the UI for the PS4. Its a mamoth tast for a controller that is very limited in comparison to a keyboard. I just wish they didnt announce it over a year ago. I think if they had announced plans for PS4 this year, many people wouldnt be so impatient.
The way i see it, the optimization process looks to include a combination of aircraft controls from Ace Combat, vehicle controls form Battlefiled and infintry controls from Titanfall....or something along the lines..lol:)

At MLG Anaheim the standard answer was "Later this year" for the PS4 version.

What a pity its so far away. Im not going to have time to play two awesom games and since Destiny will be releasing before PS2, it looks like Destiny will have my preciouse time....Sad because i really just wanted to play PS2 but i need to play something since i gave up that most terrible addiction that was Call of Duty...lol

If you just enjoy first person shooter then I think it will be great to be able to play either Destiny or PS2 or even H1Z1.
They all seem to hold very different niches in the FPS world.

I'm not looking forward to a bifurcate player base and a bifurcate development program. It's dumb. It's the biggest fuckup since BFR's.

I’m still waiting, but as an avid Twitter follower of as many devs that are working on PS2 for PS4, I did see some kind of improvement.
1272
1. This picture was posted on Twitter of the UI interface on PS4. It doesn’t show much but it’s a start and its something. It does lend some insight on the multiple button restrictions they have to work with. The question I have is what faction would this character belong to?? Clearly that’s not NC blue! The characters at the bottom of the picture indicate X=Play, O=Back, Square=keybindings, Triangle=Logout. The character to the right at the bottom shows the icon for one of the thumbsticks moving left and right to swap between characters. (On that note, could someone reply as to what and how Keybinds work for PS2 please)
2. The second was a very short 15 second video clip of the character change process. So if you wanted to change from an Infiltrator to L.A, etc. The screens scrolled from left to right for each character. What I didn’t see was the ability to select the different load outs for each character.
I must say, that I am surprised the PC interface could not be emulated on the PS4 in exactly the same way? I would have thought it could be. Clearly I am no expert and its now becoming obvious to me that the PS2 on PS4 UI is going to look COMPLETELY different to the PC version.
The twitter chatter seems to indicate that SOE Live could be the next big milestone/announcement for the progress of PS2 on PS4. I hope so, cause im chomping at the bit play this!!

It's safe to assume you will hear information about it at SOE Live. Couple more weeks right?

We got some good info. Well at least something more than screenshots and Vines.
Dissapointed with no Beta date, but hey, im sure they are doing everything they can to ensure we are getting the best possible game available.
I guess its the secrecy around releasing decent information thats annoying. PC info (updates, patches etc) is so forthcoming, but its all hush hush about PS4 news....

Oh, when we were waiting for info for the PC version to release we heard a lot of "Soon" come out of SOE... :D

Off topic but the most interesting thing I heard during the entire several hours of streaming was about them working on a WWII based game. Smed said they were working on it then stopped to start on H1Z1 but would be going back to it at some point. He was kinda cryptic about what exactly type of game it is but if someone could pull off a modern day WWII Online it would be beyond epic.
