I take it PS2's Wikipedia entry at the moment is a cruel prank? Unfortunately, I read this before I saw the twitter feed about the SOE domain.
PlanetSide 2 is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online first-person shooter published by Sony Online Entertainment and released on November 20, 2012. It is a remake of PlanetSide which originally released in 2003. Officially announced on July 7, 2011 at the Sony Fan Fair, the second installment uses a new game engine and supports thousands of players in continuous large scale conflict.[2] As in the first PlanetSide, PlanetSide 2 chronicles the efforts of three factions as they fight for territorial control of the planet Auraxis.[3] PlanetSide 2 was announced for the PlayStation 4 video game console on June 5, 2013.
The game closed, along with all Sony Online Entertainment operations, on 15th July 2014.

It's more than a login issue, they let the planetside2.com domain expire. It's for sale with a minimum bid of $69.

I believe sonyonline.net expired and it's used as the NS servers for everything.

According to Smed on Twitter, they literally missed the renewal e-mail for their domain and it really did get shut down. They paid and lit it back up, but it's taking time to ripple back through some of the name servers (like mine).
Note to self: add "put domain renewal on calendar" to top 10 things to do when you run an online gaming company.

I see that our PSU stats are back up (and our sigs are working) so things appear to be getting back to "normal."

Thought I'd post this here since PS2 will not allow it on their Twitter page.
I posted on their Twitter page about how farfetched it seemed that SONY, a billion dollar company, could simply forget to pay a bill. In the same post I mentioned the possibility that this was hackers, since we all saw what happened last time SONY had some hackers.
Within minutes my post was deleted by PS2 Twitter team. I then re-posted about how them deleting my post made me feel even more like this was a hacker job. That was post was also deleted, I have also been blocked from posting on PS2s Twitter page.
I'm calling BS on this "missed the bill" claim.

What is their twitter page?
Sony is a multi billion dollar company but this is SOE which is a subsidiary and acts independently, mostly. So I can understand that it's SOE that administer their own domains, having to refer that kind of stuff upwards to head office would probably be too bureaucratic to make sense.
However it still beggars belief that they forgot to renew those domains and forgot to update the email registered with the domain company. Amateurish.
