Anyone see that bunker a ways out from the base?
What purpose does that serve? Does it lead underground as an alternative means of entering a base?

Each base has a backdoor. But its not via a bunker.
The bunkers are just fortified places to setup and shoot people, some bunkers are connected unground to the bunker on the other side of the entrance.

Whatever machine took that shot had to be pretty high-spec, draw distance that far would probably bitch-slap a regular/lower-spec machine, surely?
Can you imagine that draw distance with pockets of fighting dotted everywhere? Especially the bandwidth-munching Barney energey weapons .;)

The machine taking that picture probably would be bitchslapped with the settings that high (in a firefight)
but that doesnt effect stationary scenes such as the one portrayed... the settings on that are probably above the playable setting and serve only to show how nice it looks :D

 Sweet jeesus does that graphic sux or wot!!!?
I love that the graphic sux, that pretty much tells they have focused on gameplay.

Those screens are horribly low quality. Have you seen the PSU screens?

I agree, the graphics aren't spellbinding. But they aren't terrible at the same time. Has anyone played EQ....now those graphics stank...horribly until the High Res models came (3-4 expansions later).
but personally I'd prefer these med quality graphics over high quality, than to sacrifice gameplay value. I've played many a game where they put too much into the way the graphics looked.
in other words
that pretty much tells they have focused on gameplay.
I agree with this part of simba's statement
My 2 cents

Ther building off in the distance is a tower I believe.

Anyone here remember Meridian 59? Now those graphics stunk!
Yeah in EQ the trees look like paper with only 4 flat branches coming out. If you stood at the trunk of one of those trees and looked up, it would look like an X.
Planetside's graphics look WAY better.

It depends what your looking at. There is the big base right below, a small bunker type thing to the left, a brige in the distance and the tower.

...for an online game it's graphics are very good. Hell, even for some single-player games they're decent.

Could the connected bunkers fit a ATV? I'd imagine that they'd travel the tunnels faster then on foot, and it looks like it could be a long way. Do said bunkers have gun slots for firing out of?

The tunnels aren't long, no need for an atv.

They stretch accross a base, long enough for me.
Ever played CnC Generals?

Wow that is pretty, wonder if trees and such will take bullet/energy damage.

No, the trees do not take damage, and also, the bunkers, cannot fit ANY vehicles, they take about 1 min to run through, and are pretty useful, they DO have slots to shoot out of, and you can crouch down to they cannot shoot you, :) btw, I have a geforce 3 Ti500 and a P4 1.8 Ghz processor, and I can turn my settings all the way up, not.. that, im in beta, I mean, yeah, I didn't say that I was, so im not breaking the NDA am i? :)

Hey you guys remember... what was that game... O YA DOOM1 NOW THOSE GFX ROCKED!!! Haha, not gonna have doom3 engine with planetside guys. GFX are exceptional for such a large scale game.

good gfx, bad gfx, i want to see both! we need scalability to ensure a reasonable computer system can run the game.
with that sort of draw distance i can see an average game system being brought to its knees, you cannot play a FPS with poor frame rate.
my biggest concerns with this game are framerate and latency. if they are good the game will no doubt be amazing.
