View Full Version : Why SOE make the PPA so bad?

That is the new PPA:

PPA is being heavily modified to be more of an infantry point defense weapon and not a long range anti-infantry weapon.
Fire rate increased from 150 RPM to 300 RPM
Reload speed decreased from 4 seconds to 2.5 seconds
Reload speed certifications reduced from 120ms per rank to 100ms per rank
All damage is being shifted to the indirect damage component
Direct hit damage removed
Indirect damage inner radius reduced from 1 meter to 0.1 meter
Indirect damage now uses Anti-Light Armor resist type instead of the standard explosion resist type (so it will still damage light armor)
Cone of Fire now blooms with each shot
CoF grows 0.75 degrees per shot
Min CoF Changed from 0.3 to 0.5 degrees
Max CoF Changed from 0.3 to 2.75 degrees
Reticle changed to crosshair as previous reticle was not dynamic
Magazine size reduced from 20 to 12
Certifications reduced from 3/6/11/15 to 1/3/4/6
Projectile speed reduced from 300 to 150
Ammo Capacity reduced from 200 to 180
Ammo Capacity certification per rank reduced from 20 to 12

...and it is not very good


Please help me that SOE don´t change the PPA and write in the PS2 forum

It was just fine for like what, nearly a year? They buffed the size of the projectile only... Then eventually 4 months after that people started crying, and it's now been nerfed 2 or 3 times.

I would like to see Higby stats showing these nerfs were needed in the name of balance.

I could live with the 2nd nerf if they removed the cone of fire changes - that change in particular is too much (after the mag size was cut in half again? really?)

Try playing against them and you'll see why they need a nerf.. even after the first nerf they had enough ammo to spam a never ending mass of explosive bullets at people from miles away. If it took about 10-15 shots to kill infantry with the splash damage it would be fine but it takes about 3-4 shots of splash while other factions are forced to actually aim and can't hit people aorund corners...

Ya... Remember how you guys felt about the striker and fractures when they first came out? That's how PPA was for us... but for like 2 years. lol

The only reason people didn't complain to much until now was because there was an even more OP as hell secondary for mags to use, but that got balanced so now they are onto their backup OP as hell secondary weapon

Why aren't you arguing against lashers with this logic? Sounds hypocritical.

Ya, played against lasher a lot and has never been a problem. It never felt OP and if they killed me it still felt fair. PPA was evil. If you Vanu wanted to keep PPA, then we want full power prowler anchors back (and we'll see where your tech god is).

Yeah Jay, if you want to blame someone for the nerf, blame your own faggoty faction who decided to immediately cheese the hell out of a Sniper Grenade Launcher.

One of these things at a fight was fine, but the tryhards on Emerald would bring at LEAST a half-dozen to every fight.

The dev's have been power creeping your faction for to long. When 1 of your OP toys was nerfed. I noticed there was the usual grumbles by the same old faces on the PS2 forums but most VS simply went "meh ZOE's" been nerfed, say hello to Sniper Saron Spider tank.... oh that's been nerfed, Say hello to the killdozer PPA. Months and months have gone by and all the VS do is moved from one OP weapon to another.

We can hope that the string finally runs out and we can have the semblance of balance in this game. Though I rather doubt it as I find those who are supposed to be the Q/A department of PS2 go to work dressed like this

You know what's cute? As soon as someone gets killed by a weapon, they complain about it. Guess which of the 3 factions have the lowest total pop when combining all servers? Guess which two factions cry the loudest due to that?

Again Jay, it wasn't the PPA's Killing Power that got it the hit from the Nerf Bat...
Your Faction eventually figured out how useful a long-range accurate Grenade Launcher is for Camping, especially when coupled with a mobile platform like the Magrider that allowed them to get Line of Sight on Spawn Rooms.

It has been explained that PPA has no damage falloff. It's treated like a rocket. Therefore, it hits for the same amount at any distance. And currently, they have no way to make the damage falloff.

The old PPA has no drop and it can snipe at long distances. It has AOE, good rate of fire and good damage, and good ammo supply even after the initial 'nerf'. In short, it was the perfect AI weapon. Mount that in a Harasser and especially Magriders that can scale mountains and you got perfect (and totally OP) AI weapon.
