Bassically I was just wondering if you guys think there will be any point to the common pool weapons. Are the empire specidic weapons better than the common pool weapons? Would there ever be time when you would choose an AMP over a Beamer/Reapeter/MAG-scatter? or a Punisher over a Pulsar/Cycler/Guass? To me, the only thing I can find in the common pool arsenal that I would use is the weapons that aren't empire specific (Thumper, Bolt Driver, rocklet ect.) Thanks for your input.

I believe some common pool weapons take less certs then their "empire specific" counter parts.

You have to cert differently to get common pool weapons? i thought you just got the Anti-Vehicle cert and you got certified to use all of the anti-tank weapons. If that is the case, I don't think I will ever pick em up.

The punisher has the advantage of being more versitile than most medium assault weapons because it fires grenades as well as bullets.
The Supressor is a spawn-in weapon.
The common pool shotgun is the only shotgun that VS or TR get.
The common pool weapons all use standard ammunition, in case a Vanu wants to be able to loot more ammo in the field.
Edit: The only sniper rifle is Common Pool. You don't cert by weapon, you cert by weapon class.

You get the empire-specific pistol and assault rifle with the same certs that you get the common pool ones. And actually, everyone starts out with the AMP and their empire-specific pistol. But I don't think that the CP weapons will be -worse- than empire specific, just different. Otherwise, yeah... there wouldn't be much point.
Edit: Yeah, what Airlift said.

Thanks Air, hadn't thought about that. Do you know if it will recquire seperate certs to get ahold of common pool weapons? Or will it all be wrapped into one cert. For instance, the Aussalt Rifle cert that would give you access to Punisher and Cycler/Pulsar/Guass. Thanks for your replies

Common pool Weaps don't need a seperate cert. If you have the Medium Assault cert you can use the Punisher, or the Shotgun, or the Emp spec weap.
The reason for the common pool is this. The Punisher has a kewl Nade launcher that I don't believe any other weapon has (and none under the Medium Assault cert.) So you Sacrifice ROF or Power, or Accuracy from the Empire, but gain Versatility(and the ability to have mass nades wihtout a seperate cert for the Thumper)
The shotgun is for non NC folk who want one, and the pistol.... well the pistol is probably useless. All the other common pool weaps are kewl nade, and rocket launchers... all good.
I think the common pool weaps are a great idea, and they will be used within well organized units.

Nope. For example, Medium Assault allows you to use the Punisher, Your empire specific medium, and any medium assault weapons you loot from corpses of the enemy.

Sweet. Very nice. Glad I don't have to pay to use CP weapons. That grenade launcher will be pretty sweet. Thanks for your replies.

Here's PSU's list of certifications and what you get from them: http://www.planetside-universe.com/content.php?p=sdCertInfo

The common pool weapons are just the generic well rounded weapons. They don't hold any particular advantages or disadvantages. Each empire specific weapon holds some advantage over the other empire's weapons but gives up something in exchange for it. For instance the NC gauss rifle doesn't fire that fast but it does tons of dammage more than any other assault rifle. The TR cycler does the least dammage of any of the assault rifles but also fires the fastest. It goes on and on like that.

Can you have more then one weapon certification group?
Like, if I had the sniper cert, I can't have standard or medium assult also?

You can buy as many weapons certs as you have points to spend. In fact, most of the weapons require you to cert in Medium Assault first.

Revenant - Yes, you can.

The Amp (common pistol) should be good for cloakers for a quick, up close hose. It's got regular rounds so is easier to loot ammo for with NC/VS and fires faster than the TR pistola. However, it could suck. Only beta players and your hair dresser know for sure.

Every weapon has a purpose and is intended to be balanced, I have faith the devs will balance all weapons so they are effective.

Besides, variety is the spice of life, and it's nice to have some cross-pollenization between the weapons. Like someone else said, at least with the common pool weapons, you have a better chance at looting ammo or the corpses of your victories...

yes, I would absolutely choose CP over EW, prolly punisher over cycler coz it got 6 diff ammos, 1-regular ammo, 2-AP ammo,
3- jammer nades, 4- frag nades, 5- rocklets and 6-plasma?
Also flechette rifle sounds really good, I would rather have flechette than JackShitHead.
Also I love SMG:s so I think im gonna start out with the supressor and c how it works.
Prolly all weapon certs needs medium weapon cert 2 begin with.
I also would prefer decimator rather than any other AV weapon. Small (I have a problem with my inv space) and extreeme DMG.

What about the cert limit? Thought you couldn't get certified in everything.

Ex70 - That's becuase at maximum rank (BR 20) you only have enough cert points to get somewhere around 1/2 to 1/3 of the total certs available. So you specialize in a field or be a jack-of-all-trades.
Or keep three characters. :D

A common pool is an excellent idea. You still need to balance weapons/vehicles/armors for them, but you don't need the painfully perfectionistic attitude you do for the empire specific.
If the Supressor is overpowered, then you'll just see less variety of weapons in the field...
If the Chaingun is overpowered, then you'll hear from a lot of angry VS and NC...
It also allows strategies used to be more compatible with every empire - which is why most vehicles are in common pool.

That flechette looks cool, I wonder how effective it is.

I'm also under the idea that you can unlearn certs to take other certs just in case you don't like how your character is turning out, or you just feel like trying something different for a change.
I'm on the side of being for a common pool btw.
