I posted about this a few days ago, but I don't think any admins say it. I personally know of about 45 students who are on college internet lines that can't connect to the PSU irc servers. After talking to the network admin of my school, she informed me that almost all EDU lines now block the port 6667. It would be in great intrest of PSU irc servers to add the ports 6668 and 6666. You would easily gain 100+ users.

If these are the lines you get in your dorm etc, then its pretty shit that they are trying to block out IRC!

Ever wondered it was an intention to block u from bieng on IRC???
Just my 2 cent, but i see it would be annoying having to make homework etc. on the schools computers...

i read the shadowbane bb about a month ago. there were REALLY long threads about SB using up ports in the 6600-6700 area, and colleges blocking those ports for very valid reasons which i forgot :)

They are not blocking the kids from irc, they are blocking the port 6667 which is the most used xdcc bot port. So they just figured that if they block that port they won't be open to as many xdcc bot hacks. Go figure, I have seen alot of xdcc bots still on most of the lab computers. Any ways, squeeky, I really hope that you guys can open up those ports. Alot of the people i talk to are excited about not haveing to use ETG or gamesnet.

IRC hub, hey guys I have a solution for you guys. I have a server that I can't host a 4-5k user irc server for you guys. It is on a 3 mb connection both ways. Let me know if you are interested.

Hosting a server is not the problem. I already have teh server lined up. I am just not willing to change the configuration just yet, until we move to the new server :p
