When i go to the home page and do something, like try to sign up for a contest, my comp says i need to log in. After i log in i try again and it still says i need to log in eventhough if i go to the forums i'm logged in. Any ideas?

Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy

Set it to a level that uses cookies. :) Should fix your problem.
