Annyone else looked at the name of the jpg image of the armor on the official site? it says VS_male_heavy.jpg, notice the male part.... does that mean theres a female variant aswell or? *shrug* hope so =)
I would say VERY most likely yes seeing as how females have different armors for every other class. I would imagine the female MAXs are a bit smaller and sleeker. :)
actually i'm pretty sure that the male and female MAXs have no differences.
take a look at NCs MAX and you will see that not only it is occupied by a woman, but it looks the same as the male models we've seen.
if there was a male/female MAX, they would have had a pic of both, since they did that for all the other armors.
i'm willing to bet its just like tribes.

That is a female NC MAX and I'm pretty sure that is what the Male looks like. The only difference I can see is the head being either male or female but other than that I'm not sure. I hope the female MAXes aren't too small or else it would be a bit unfair and everyone would be a female MAX.
EDIT - Afex beat me to it :(
:(
Different MAXs would have been cool! Maybe they are hiding it from us as a surprise. :p

The Male/Female part of the file name proably denotes the sex of the occupant, not the suit.

what is the point of using the sex of the ocupant in an armor that is so far as we know unisex? seems kinda reduntant.....

Well, I can see armor being different for the sexes , but MAXs? Methinks not. It wouldn't make logical sense for RP reasons or developing reasons. Why? The answer to both is more work. :D

just b/c the armor doesn't have alternate versions for which sex you are doesn't change the fact that the person inside it isn't asexual :D

?!
You mean we don't lose our gender once we enter a MAX?! When were the devs gonna let us know?

you guys do realise that i was refering to the use of male in the naming of the picure and not the ocupant of the suit...
why call it vanu male max or whatever it was when it looks the same on females unless theres a female suit aswell
english isn't my mother tongue so i'm not sure if you're using sarcasm or what not...

Chances are they had a different picture with a female/male body in teh MAX. While the character model is the same for teh MAXs, teh head of the character is still displayed as a female/male.

Just your head is visible in the max, i think its the same for both sexes
You know i was just checking out the VS site and Zatrais does have a point. The VS MAX hides the whole face so they would have no real reason to put "male" unless there are 2 suits.
Of course since Mr.Lucky dawg a.k.a. Hamma already played and didn't mention 2 different MAXs i guess i'm wrong, just seems weird they would put male when they don't need it.

I think you guys are reading WAY too much into this and most of it is wishful thinking. Having a MAX for each gender would be kinda silly...cool...but silly. All it would do is add ambience and lower believability. (of course, it IS Sci-fi, so we're already stretching the bounds of believability...oh well)
Coliostro
Why would it lower "believability"?
Assuming that every girl is smaller than every guy (which is true in 95% of games) than making a 2nd type of MAX which would be smaller and more agile/fast would be smart.
Anywhoo like you said it's not really important. :)

Reason it will not happen is two-fold. The RPing reason and the real reason:
1. It means more work.
2. It means more work.
An army/empire would not put in more work on anything then they have to. Why design a totally different MAX outfit for a different gender when the purpose is the same for each user and the actual design allows it to serve its purpose already? Why spend more time/nanos to make unnecessary changes?
The devs would not put in gender specific MAXs unless there was a huge outcry for it. Even then, chances are it would be slim. There is only so much you can add to a game before either system space is used up or it starts to create a bandwidth problem for users. That and it'd take time, work, and energy to make another MAX model for each empire.
Comprehensive enough? :D
**edit: Hamma... you really need to allow leeway on the whole edit thing. I've made countless posts where there's a small error I want to fix, such as the list as having 1 and 1 as opposed to 1 and 2. Or mispellings or improper grammer. You know, stupid things I should check over initially. :D Anyway, I change ONE character and it adds the "This post has been edited" message at the bottom of my post. while another time I added an entire paragraph worth of extra context and as far as everyone else knew, I had not edited it in the slightest. I'm just looking for consistancy... What makes that happen? A cookie error? The computer gods and demons? The Illuminati? WHA?!
If it's out of your hands, I understand that too. :p

No reason it should be different for the sexes either. It's not a form-fitting suit like body armor is. It's a big, bulky exoskeleton.
Assuming that every girl is smaller than every guy (which is true in 95% of games) than making a 2nd type of MAX which would be smaller and more agile/fast would be smart.
MAX armor is definitely powered armor, and I'm sure it would be adjusted for size internally, rather than making a variety of different heights for the armor for different user height. So there's no functionality reason why you'd want to make the armor smaller or lighter or anything. And if you want agile/fast, use Agile armor :) MAX = heavy assault, not agile and fast.
