I was looking to build a new AMD PC to play the game on and I was wondering which Vidoe Card I could use to get the best Gaming experience

Radeon 9800. Best card out there. You could get a GeforceFX, but they cost the same and the radeon is better.

On another note...the geforce is water cooled. Which is amazingly cool, literally.

If money is no object I'd say an ATI 9800pro would be the way to go. It's slightly better than the 9700pro and doesn't have the vacum cleaner-like exaust fan on it like the GeforceFX 5800ultra. The ATI cards also have better anti-aliasing support which makes for better frame rates at higher anti-aliasing settings.

If you're on a budget I'd bet a Geforce4 4200 or 4400. Don't get a leadtek card though. A couple of my friends had their Leadteks die on them at almost the same time with the same problem (weird verticle lines everywhere on the screen). You could overclock a 4400 to a 4600 pretty easily if your into that sorta thing.

The only reason I really suggest the 9800pro, or atleast a 9700pro is because they are both support DirectX9 in hardware, which will make them better in the long run. With the Geforce4 you'll have to get a new card sooner because games will be migrating to DX9 in the next year or 2 and the Geforce4s do not have hardware DX9 support.

edit:
The stock cards that nvidia is advertising are not water cooled. They have a loud ass blower fan on them that sounds like a dirt devil and takes up a PCI slot. If you saw one that is water cooled it must have been a vender modification.

If you want a cheaper card ATi is releasing a bunch of mid ragned 9000 series. The 9500 has been out for awhile and the 9600 and 9200 are coming out soon. I'm upgrading soon. I'll be getting a 9800 pro:D

*sigh* I just hope its playable on this 1.33ghz with 256DDR and a geforce4 Ti 4600. I don't mind having to turn eyecandy down since I'm in this for the game play not the graphics (although I think the're spiffy!)

I just hope it to be playable since I really can't afford a new rig at the moment.

DO not! get a geforce 4 card. I compared all of the tech specs and a 128 mb ATI radeon 9500 is the same/better than a gf4 ti 4600 and it's cheaper. i Highly suggest this card, i bought the sapphire 128 mb ati radeon 9500 from http://www.pcpart4less.com for 150 and it works perfect, my 3dmark03 score went up almost 2000 points when i upgraded to this from my gf3. my battlefield 1942 runs 100% lag free (unless the server is what's laggin) where it used to move at a crawl. if you're on a budget get this card!

Yeah, Radeon 9500s are supposed to be great. Remember, the 9500 may not have as much brute force as the GF4 but it new tech. Newer games run far better on it

I'd wait for the 9800 to come out, then get a 9700 pro. The price is bound to drop to 250$, (you can already get it for 300$, which is really cheap) and you can also get a 1.8 gig athlon for about 130$, and 256 mb 2100 ddr ram for about 20-35$. That is dirt cheap shit there, man, and you could probably run ps with very high settings using that shit.

Brute force as the gf4? What the hell is brute force for a graphic card? If you mean capability for high playability at high settings, then you are incorrect. The 9500 pro has much more "brute force" then the gf4 4600.

You are going to want to upgrade to 512 MB of RAM, Trust me ;)

9700PRO is well worth thr 300 you will drop on it. In addition 1 gig of ram is a very good thing if you can flip the cash.

well rather then start another thread I thought I'd ask my video card question here...What is the difference between a regular ATI 9700 and a ATI 9700 Pro and which one should I get? And will the new 9800 blow the 9700 out of the water?

Wow, im surprised. I thought most people knew that you could use a program to tweak a radeon 9500 pro to have the same performance as a 9700 pro. I HIGHLY suggest buying the 9500 pro and doing so, because it is EASILY the best way to spend your money. Even if you couldn't tweak it. The program is called Riva Tuner. For all you out there interested, search for this in computer hardware forums like Rage3d and stuff

when i get home i'll give you a link for the exact video card you should get if you can afford 165.99 USD for the vid card. its a red version card with the memory in an L shape which are the best overclocking ones and the ones most of the hardcore overclockers try to get as the stock cooling allows it to be o/ced to a "9800"
