Planetside V.s. Tribe 3

EDIT - I just noticed Tribes 3 is "in the works" according to Gamespot. But the release dates for the games are going to be so far apart, I don't see how they can compete.

T3 is being put on the boards since November....or atleast thats when the contract was signed. T3 will come unless Bill Gates takes over.

well for one thing, i don't think you can really compare them at all, unless tribes3 is going mmo, which i don't believe it is. and if it's barely been announced i'm sure that the technology in it will blow away what planetside has to offer. i've played trbes 2 in a demo, for like a day. so i can't really give feedback for it, but i don't think they'll really be comparable

There's the key. :) These games won't be coming out at the same time so there's no real problem. If they make T3 a "sport" game like t1 turned out to be instead of trying to make a "strategy" game like they wanted t2 to be it will be very good. :)

I'll bet that with Planetside out, Tribes 3 will just have be a far different game just to differentiate itself. To me, Planetside is what the T2 developers really wanted all along.

Remember also that Serra also made Tribes Areal Assult, which is just T2 on PS2. now with better graphics the playstation verson had, there is still luck in T3....and ofcoarse it'll still run with its usual, CTF.....hopefully.....and it better actually get good beta....gay dumbasses let out the game with hell locked on the disks....

.......but this year and next will be the year of PlanetSide. Right now, ps kicks ass! And ps will kill lota games off, seriously! Even T2.....and also the remands of T1.....

Tribes 2, for the record, wasn't a bad game, it was fairly good. So, in return, Tribes 2 will most likley be a great game, just like Tribes2 was when it first game out.

But if T3 is coming out a year or two after Planetsides release, then it does have a good chance to take out Planetside in SOME aspects. But, that doesn't mean its going to take it out completely. It'll have some other neat things Planetside doesn't have in order to have some better things in it, but Planetside will have a lot of organization, the built in clan thing, similar to Tribes 2 and those instant squads, leveling. Unless Tribes2 completly rips off the whole Planetside idea and feel, it won't be beaten, but hey, we can't know for sure until its out. =)

Thats just my opinion in the case however.

Sierra produces game they do not make them. From what they are hinting at is a very well known DEV team will be making tribes 3. People are thinking it is Valve or Blizzard but no one will know till the 24th.

Have you ready anthing they have been talking about when it comes to T3?

They know the mistakes T2 made and they did as well as they could with classic. The game engine is T2's downfall for the game it should be. T3 will go back to a more T1 type game play with a better engine and gfx, and most likely other nice features.

You do of course realize that, assuming Verant's style holds true, the game some of us will be playing in a couple weeks (hopefully) will be nothing like the Game we'll be playing 2-3 years from now. Look at EQ at launch, and look at what it's grown into now.

don't forget why we'll be paying for PS, they're going to keep upgrading it with new content and prolly expansions (SOE is good at expansions, like 5 now with EQ)

I think there will be a natural draw to T3 from the PS community that plays the past incarnations of tribes. Ultimately, people who enjoy MMO games will stick with PS, and Tribes players will migrate back over to Tribes games. That is not to say that there won't be people who do both.

I don't think there will be a PS vs T3 issue. T3 is an entirely different type of FPS. In CTF it has established goals and defined winner and loser over a set time period. Many people like that aspect to online gaming because it allows for true competition between players and teams.

interesting. Do you feel that the PS community will be a lot differnt? So far I have personally been turned off by the PS community for a couple of reasons. 1. Some of the PS community seems quite closeminded and 2. Have you seen the chat when the servers come down?

As for the community, this community rox0rs. I have not been haning around the OFs, but the people on PSU and PSI are generally of the good sort. A good majority of them spell badly and may not be old enough to drive - but hey. As long as they don't act incredibly stupid it's fine by me.

comparing ps and t3 is impossible considering two factors. 1. one of the games hasnt even been officially announced yet. 2. they are two completely different types of games.

as stated before Dave G. had NOTHING to do with T1, and only came in 1/2 way through T2. Dave had a great idea, but he put it into the wrong game making a lot of people very upset in the process.
