I'm not an expert at these things and, unfortunatly I'm not that rich either (yet :D ). But I was wondering, whats the best kind of mem I can get trading some performance for an affordable price?

Please don't flame the n00b. :p

Edit: oops, never mind, the only mem compatible with my motherboard is some outdated pc800 RD crap. :p

Edit #2: Alright so it isn't outdated, but it's damn expensive and it's all that's compatible with my board. :ugh:

It all depends on what your motherboard can take. Currently PC2100/2700 from Crucial or Samsung goes for good prices. If you want the extra bit of oomph, go for the same kind of memory from Corsair.

True, but that's RAMBUS memory, and he said he was on a budget :)
