From the recent gamehelper preview:

One unique tactic I soon fell upon involved driving a Vanguard tank up to a captured tower, hopping out, and then having a friend ride the gun turret while I stood near the door and kept it open. This allowed him to effectively suppress everyone that tried to leave the area, giving the rest of our group time to move in. Set up a second Vanguard at the door on the other side and youd effectively have the whole place blocked off.

Valid tactic or lame? You decide.

why? didn't everyone do this in every war?

and what's the phoenix for? try blocking one of that flying out of the door.

Lame if your TR or VS, effective if your NC. They don't have unlimited ammo so they couldn't do it forever.

Unless they are supported by an AMS and someone to load the trunk. Still, once a couple of decent AV people make it thru the hellstorm to get to the roof of the tower, the game is up for the tankspammer. Or people spawn elsehwhere and come back with a flight of Reavers.

All is fair in love and war ;)

You should notice that only tactics that kick peoples asses are considered lame. If you don't have to hack the game or otherwise break the normal rules of the game to make a tactic work it is perfectly valid. This is a war game. War is not supposed to be fair. One side developes a tactic that the otherside has no easy counter for. Then the other side must learn to counter effectively in order to survive. This is the way of war. Always has been, always will be.

I think its a good idea, accept its USED ALL THE FRIKIN TIME IN T2! Member the tank and somone just sits in the gunna and Morts the heack outa somewhere, the only prob is if somone starts whippin on your tank, you can't move.

Cheap? Yes. Competely valid? Yes. If you're in this to win, you do cheap things. This isn't feudal Japan, you're not fighting for honor.

the thing is: lame is not the same as valid/legal

legal=lame= NOT TRUE
its lame as fking hell, spamming rockets got no skill and is lame as hell.
The most things that kix azes and requires no skill is usually lame.
Theres other tactics, thats just a stupid lameass retarded 1.

"u shud notice that only tactics that kix ppl:s azes r considered lame."
Not the 1:s with skills, if some dude goes in a room with 2 ppl and kix their azes (well this is almost impossible since theres NO FKING HEADSHOTS!) its not lame. But 4 the tactics, well if some guy in infil suit sneaks in 2 a base and hax the control, thats not lame, thats skill.

also I noticed somethin else in the preview, c if u have seen it 2, brb.

It may be lame but it is a good tactic. It forces people to react to the people assaulting rather than the defense forcing the offense to react. The defense will have to spawn elsewhere and bring in a galaxy and hit him... even a single troop with an anti-tank gun could probably finish him off. The only people who are going to curse the guy out are the people who are going to constantly spawn into the same place and getting killed because they can't figure out that there is no way they are ever going to get out of there in one piece.

This isn't cheap, it's just one or two vanguards, remember the top player count isn't 64.:)

As long as some ppl in the tower have AV weapons, rockets and/or grenades, it shouldn't be a problem.

So no, it's not cheap in any way.

lol, this is from a preview of the game. During Beta testing the Dev's would set the cert points higher so that there would be a more varied experience. Please keep in mind that there was multiple character wipes performed during the beta.

You will start at BR1 with 4 certs...Day One settings.....

Wouldn't work. Wherever they can fit a Vangaurd, it will be very vulnerable to Lancer sniping.

Isn't this what the whole game is going to basically be about... war tactics and strategy. There is no lame tactic lol. The only thing "lame" (if its even considered a real word) would be hacking.
This tactic is a small step in the development of the game, from a tactic pov. Like in all games certain strats are used widely, maybe this one will diffuse into a very common strat. And if that happens im sure someone will figure out a way to make this strat totally erroneous, by figuring how to take this strat and turn it against the enemy.

Like the general consensus, I feel this tactic is not very lame at all. If you have any kind of AV weapons, you'd just go to one of the upper floors of the tower and snipe/blast them away. I mean, only two tanks? As TheGreatCarbini mentioned, the max player count is not 64. :D

Lame?? That's not lame...

While waiting for them to return, another dropship touched down and discharged a load of troops. Expecting a handsome greeting, I politely walked up to the pilot and inquired if we could get a ride back to base. After all, their vehicle bay was empty, and they had plenty of room to hold our squad in the Galaxys holds, so why not? A few moments after I fired off my query, I saw the pilot reach for his pistol. Expecting it to be a repair kit or medical device (my health was at a rather critical level after our original Galaxy exploded), I bravely stood there, awaiting his generosity and was then promptly shot in the face with what looked up-close to be a standard-issue MAG scatter pistol. Ow. By the time I respawned and returned to my awaiting team with a fresh dropship, the traitorous villain had vanished, never to be seen again

That is lame. Jeez...

Well, he got him back to base, didn't he?

I'd just crouch to the left and have another squad member crouch to the right of the door. And as they ran out i'd fire a 5 round burst with my gauss into their chest.

Then you would miss and hit your team mate and get greif points...

You're also missing the point. Greif system=actual trust of teammates you don't know personally. He thought is was a med applicator.
