im so confused... i was expecting to get into open beta... i thought it was open! i thought anybody could be in open beta...

can someone please explain to me what the difference is between closed beta and open beta, i dont see a difference... i really wanted to be in "open" beta...


i was going to be the tester that would make sure PS would run on a crappy video card ;)...

anyways, please explain!

well "exclusive Beta" is when only a handful of gamers get in, but it is open to the public, a "closed Beta" is when developers hire their own beta testing team, you've seen them in the credits of games as "Testers" think of them as QA department. A "open beta" is when the beta is open to the public and their lettin EVERYONE in even the guys with the bad video cards, lol, usually if a company does "exclusive Beta" then they'll do open beta, open beta is usually used for testing server loads and things like that

PS is having a semi-open beta. As in, not anyone can join.

Thye can't have a completley open beta for Planetside, due to the fact that they have to ship out cd's to all hte beta testers. Too much shipping and they lose money, and we all know taht the world revolves around money.
