Anything like this been implemented? For example waving to signal all clear, fist to show possible enemy. Kinda like taunting in UT.

From what I've heard, there are voice emotes and signals, etc.

There are a lot of built-in voice commands, and many of those voice commands have an animation. However, you don't really rely on the animation to see the effect. If you give the All Clear voice command (it exists), in Squad Chat, or Public Chat if you're unsquaded, your character will say "All clear!".

You don't need to subscribe to anything to use TS2.

There a way to prevent your character from saying anything and just use the emote alone? Would be a pain having your character scream at the top of his lungs while trying to remain stealthy.
Oh, and by the end of beta, TS will be obsolete, there going to implement voice chat into the game by the time it goes gold. :)

Waste of resources if they try and do this. They should just focus on the gameplay rather than try to develop something that already exisits and works fine (Team Speak 2).
Tribes 2 tried it and failed miserably.

We will use the "stinky" animation when either:
A) Someone farts.
B) Someone does a BAD combat move.
C) The enemy is blasted open and his guts and breakfast are plastered all over your shiny new suit.

Well, I don't think it's a waste. What about someone you meet in game? You don't want to tell them to just go to a certain IP address and join in while in the middle of a fight, do you? It'd be much quicker if they have the feature in the game.. just as long as it works well.
As far as Tribes 2, most people just don't use it. I for one enjoy it when they do. I think the problem exists in the end user. Alot don't know how to set up the mic, or talk on it correctly.. IE, not so close to mouth, or etc. I've had no problem talking to friends on there.

I'd have to agree that mic support in the game would be better than having to use 3rd party programs. I've played a couple of games where other people on my team were using 3rd party voice chat, and let me tell you, it bites the big one for people who don't have that program or don't want to spend time joining your voiceserver.
The reason it sucks is because the people who are using the 3rd party voice usually don't see any reason to alert anyone who isn't to what's going on.
Picture this: You join an 8-man pickup squad. 3 of them are using a voice proggy. You get to the base you're going to assault, hack the door, and they split into 2 and 1 groups and move in different directions. The five who don't have the proggy have no idea what's going on, but the two are going down to hold/destroy the spawn tubes while the other checks to see if anyone is in the base. Soon, the scout dies. You are unaware of him telling the others that there's a large force here, and they're going around to come up behind you. You are mauled by the surprise attack, because the three with voice neglected to inform the five without.

Thats why anin game voice chat is needed. Squad and platoon chat wouldnt strain the servers to much. From someone whos played the game, trust me, it would help alot.
