ATM, I dont think its implemented, But i have seen the command uplink device, We will be defending a base and hamma will whip it out and press it a few times, Its makes a VERY loud noise.

it is, I think that not many will get cr 2-3 much less 4-5, I am sure that getting 4-5 will take being the leader of a good (large) group and getting base after base after base. *hahahahaha :p

I imagine that the rise is quite steep between ranks.
For example
!!!NOT ACTUAL INFO!!!
CR 1 - Cap 5 bases.
CR 2 - Cap 15 bases.
CR 3- Cap 45 bases.
CR 4 - Cap 135 Bases.
CR 5 - Cap 405 Bases.
So you'd have to achieve continent lock over and over and over again to get CR 5.
Yeah, CR 5 is gonna be the ultimate powergamer goal in this game.
Or, to prevent everyone from getting massive command rankage, you could have your (effective) bases-taken count reduce by 1 every day if you have not captured a base within the last week or so.
"Due to your lack of progress on the front, you have been demoted to command rank 2."
So only those who are repeatedly commanders who repeatedly capture bases would reach even CR 2.

yea, that kind of sucks because I think its actually a pretty good idea... I just think it will suck when half the people on the server are blasting everything from space...

it said it was very localized and to chose ur targets carefully...
i would take this to mean once its used there's a super long time before it can be used again... plus we have no idea how local locally is... dont know that we need to worry about an uber weapon being over used just yet

From what I read, I think the orbital strike will be something like the old C&C Ion cannon. It will be pretty powerful, but it will have such a small range that it won't be able to 0wnz0rz a battle. Might be good for taking out a group of snipers, or a couple tanks moving side-by-side, but I guessing that it wouldn't be very effective against infantry, given that most people would be moving around. It might be a help in larger battles, but I doubt in a small 10 on 10 skirmish an orbital strike would help much at all. And it wouldn't help assault a base, except maybe take out a few turrets...
Just listing possible negatives. Still, it kinda sounds cool. I'd love to see a group of 5 full Galaxies being taken out by massive firepower from the heavens...
Edit: Oh, and grief. Nothing like poorly aimed indirect fire to take out a squad of friendly MAXs.
Even if it did happen the next patch would fix it. The Devs aren't dumb, they want people to stay happy.

Anyway, sounds like the strike (complete assumption here) will totally annihilate anything within a small (5-10 ft.) radius of the point of impact, with a long (hell of a lot longer than the 20 min. of all enemies snapshot) recharge time. Will probably be a lot better at CR5, however. Remember Extreme Mega Blast (sounds corny, I know) in Black & White?

plus the fact that the group of enemy tanks can be moving u might have to lead the target whcih can come out a success or turn into a distress. Another fact thatit makes loud noises, people are gonna know what ur doing!

There's only 5 Command Ranks, so it has to take forever to get to 4, much less 5.

It does say "Empires station" as in one station. Maybe it can only be called down one at a time with a long timer for individual commanders.

Or maybe it isnt an offensive weapon, it could be something that makes all the HARTs launch their drop pods all at once in an enemies SOI?

To get from command rank 2 to command rank 3 it takes being in command of the squad that hacks and cpature a base 25 times.
Being the squad that capps the base is no easy task.

Well, what I would like to see is like a more government based way. In a MMO game I played, people voted for Overlord (or Preisdent). What I am saying is that when atleast 3 or more CR 4 players get there, players are able to participate in an election and vote for ONE CR 5 player. It would deal with a short comment that players can view on each possible CR 5 and choose from there. Also it sounds like getting to CR 4 is hard and thus if you are at that rank you should be well known to some extent. So when you are CR 5 you get whatever power that is given, and a term you serve on like 2 months for example. But let's say you are doing a good job or horrible job, then for like once a day you can vote in favor or against the CR 5 guy. If it is like 75% against and atleast 1000 votes have been made, then he can be overthrown, then allowing a new election.
Something like that, easily worked around and changed to better suit the game, but that is how it worked.

actually for all of u who think CR is hard to get , I got 2 CR levels in 1 day, well, half a day, CR 1 and CR 2, but CR 3 is hella hard to get to, still haven't gotten it, so CR 5 will be UBER hard, CR 2 isn't that useful, but CR 3 might be, CR 5 has continental broadcast and I 4got what else, :)
