I was wondering--in the current builds, can you turn on all of the 'extremely high textures' mentioned in the Spork beta chat if you have a gig of ram and a 128 meg video card? It said you could start turning them on if you had over 512 megs of ram and a 128 meg card, but I was wondering what it would take to turn them all on.

Even my machine chugs when I put ALL textures on High-res
and I have 512 MB of ram and a 128MB card :ugh:
Geforce 4 4600+ XP
AMD Athlon 2200+

lol damn hate to see what my machine will do

1.1 GHz AMD
512 RAM
GF 4 MX 440 64 MB

Aw well, they accepted me into beta so I figure my system specs will at least make the game runnable, if not then I'll upgrade

Is it constantly reading the HD?

p4 2ghz
gforce4 4600ti
1gb ram

it runs smooth on mine with it all turned up, except every once in a while it slows down in sanctuary, but there isn't fighting there anyways.

I want to see this game in max res, but I doubt i will play it that way.

my config:

PIV 3.06Ghz
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro [not worth it to go to 9800 Pro]
Audigy 2
1024 RDRAM 1066 [On Asus P4T533-C with Sys bus at 533, so essentially I get close to 3.8 gigs/sec [rated for 4.2 gigs/sec but seems hard to get to] transfer between prcessor and memory].
Cable of course, but mines shitty, usually get around 700-800 kb sec, when people in my area are getting cloe to 900.

Yep. I was going to say but your tactless post got here first:

The speed is great, the system works great but in six months it's not the best nor was it worth the thousands put in it. I bought the system with some unexpected money I ran into and figured why not.

Am I glad I got the system, you bet! Would I do it again if I didn't have that extra influx in my finances, in a word no.

It's what you can afford.

a few years of 'recommending' 'puters to people and explaining why buying the absolute best stuff is bad has turned me into a tactless grouch. i want to be rich damnit

i fail to see how wishing to be rich could backfire. I want to be rich so i can get an uber puter of doom, and a new car, and i want money to pay a lawyer so i can sue the <BLEEEEEEEP> <BLEEP><BLEEP> UNINSURED <BLEEP><BLEEP> WHO RAMMED MY CAR!

Off topic,

But anyways ive got
P4 2.4 Ghz
1024MB of ram (not sure what its rated, what kind of ram is the best?)
G4 4600Ti
Cable modem running at great lvls (940 - 50 kbs)
I also have Audigy 2 sound card

Unfortunatly this POS Compaq im on from 1998 :( (450mhz lol) is all I can use because i think i fudged up the wireing on the AGP Slot b/c everything BUT the card is working yet it all tests for current.

I have 1280 ram and a geforce 3 ti 500 64mb running with a 1900+ (1.65ghz) and i run everything on minimum. The last thing you need is to get frame lag during battle, especially while sniping. Minimum supported resolution is 1024x768 if anyone is wondering.

BTW, if you havent yet, update your video drivers. I didnt and it made sniping in forests almost impossible, but now it runs great.

Heh, well, perhaps I should have said that it was what I would shoot for if I had the money. But I don't so I will probably have something less. I have a 2.4G P4 on a MB that got fried somehow and my video card is a Radeon 9000 Pro and I have an Audigy sound card. That's where the similarities are. I just need get off my butt and figure out a way to return the motherboard since the store I bought it from went under. I think I will have to mail it to ASUS or something. I'll do it sometime.

Currently I am running a 1G Athlon (ugh) with 512M of RAM with the video card and sound card from above. I'll see how it works for me when I get my CDs.

BTW, I said 'ugh' to the Athlon because I dislike AMD since they indirectly caused me to get laid off a couple years ago. It's a personal thing mainly. Besides, I'm now extremely biased towards P4's because well, I help make them.

I had been running max textures on a p4 2.4 512 pc2100 cas 2-2-2 gf4 ti4400 at 1024x768 and the game was pretty sluggish. I recently upgraded to 1gig of pc2100 cas 2-2-2 and a radeon 9700pro and i'm running 1280x960 with max textures and the game is beautiful. I tried 1600x1200 at max textures and it acually did run very smooth, but the chat was completely unreadable because it was too small.

I have a pretty similar configuration (Athlon 2400+, 1 Go DDR333, Radeon 9700Pro), but I'll have to wait until the release of the game to see I my computer can run the game smoothly with max textures. But is there a big visual difference between max textures and a lower texture quality?

Great--so maximum textures are a go with 1 gig of ram, a 2.2gig+ cpu or better, and a Radeon 9700 pro or better. Thanks LesserShade and Zhor.

And to the people posting their system configs just for the heck of it: you get no points!
