BEP Points for just damaging someone?

Well the thread name is pretty much self-explanatory but do you get any BEP for lets just say damaging somone or a vehicle or do you only get it when killing the person?

It'd be too easy if it was just damage, and if it was just damage then the BEP you'd get would be very small.

Does anyone know that you get BEP's for helping to kill someone? Like you and someone else in your empire (that isnt in your squad) kill a guy together? And if you do, is the amount of BEP's split in half or is given to each man based on damage?

only the killer gets points.. wich sucks... but it would probably cause a bit of extra lag having the computer notice everyone who hits someone
