I've been thinking about getting one, but I'd like to hear about anyone who has tried one before spending money on it. It's a keyboard replacement for FPS games, and it has TeamSound built in (no headset, it seems).

A friend of mine has one.

He got it from the company that makes them so he could make sure that UT2K3 worked right with it, but when I was visiting him, and he was showing me UT he was playing on the key board and not that thing.

I asked him about it and he said it was cool. I'll ask him to give me more info about it.

Hmm, never heard of this, looks pretty interesting though. I will be waiting to see you're report on this! The team chatter looks alot like microsoft's game voice controls.

It apparently uses TeamSound, which I've never tried.

Hey just heard about this one as well, less bulky and you can program it for 30 buttons...no voice though I don't think!

The quest for a better gaming device will never end!

About that Belkin, I bought one when they first came out and I hated it. It was moderately comfortable, but I found button presses to be inconsistent and it felt like a low quality device. That's part of the reason I don't want to just run out and get a tactical board.

I think it is just for the left hand (right most buttons are called thumb buttons) so you still use it in combingation with a mouse.

Hey Airlift, that seems pretty sweet. If you pick one up and like it let me know.

I left messages for 3 friends that have them, and report #1 is in. Here's what Praetor-Vong had to say about it...

No, they all work for a gaming company and got them for free. They might know where to get one though. Let me check.

Well so far 2 of the 3 people I know that have them have said they work great. I thought it was kinda cool myself and would think about getting one but I don't have to space on my desk for it.

Thanks Nighthawk, thanks again Unreg. I really want to get one now, but I'm not gonna drop $60 on it without more research. My local CompUSA needs to get off it's arse and get one in to demo. Maybe I should check bestbuy...

Here is one review I came across...not sure if this guy is picky or if he is telling the truth, you judge for yourself.:)

This I agree with. It was what I thought when I rested my hand on it.

The directional arrows perhaps don't depress as far as they should nor do they provide enough resistance or tactile feedback.

Then again I chalked that up to not being used to it. Everytime I get a new mouse or keyboard I complain that it doesn't feel right.

Take for example my mouse. I had grown used to a cordless one, but got tired of the batterys and the way it jumped around at times. So I took the recomondation of a friend and got a duel optical mouse. When I got it home I hated it. It seemed too small, and the buttons weren't right. If I had, had batteries I might have gone back to the other mouse. I'm glad I didn't though because it's the best mouse I have ever owned. It just took some getting used to.

It might take some getting used to, and a few nights of "I hate this thing, what a waste of money" but in the long run you might think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

"New" PC already needing upgrade for PS + PtP = No money to spend on unimportant stuff. :)

 Yea, well I'm not going to go out and get it just yet either, it isn't something in my "need to get" lists as of right now. The outfit I'm in now, use microsoft Gamevoice program(which is supported by msn) and I'm sure it will work just fine in PS. I guess I can go with the old saying "if it isn't broke, don't fix it"!!

I stopped back in at the local comp usa on the way home from work and they did have one on display. It was ok, but I'm not going to buy it. I liked the button placement, contrary to the review. On the other hand, I wished the buttons were more like keys. Ultimately, I think I would recommend my IBM USB keyboard over the tacboard for gaming. It's also around a third of the price. As for the stinky wristpad, I wasn't about to sniff the demo unit :D

I love my MS keyboard. I think they built it with T1 players in mind since it has a big space bar with a nice slope to it. It made sking (before I had the ski script) a lot faster.

My kb requirements were usb port, single row enter key, large backspace. The only thing that was difficult to get over was the nonstandard orientation of the home/end block of keys. It was a trade off to be able get out from under teh evils of ps/2

Here's a link, but don't pay $45 for it (http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&langId=-1&partNumber=22P5185&storeId=1). If you're looking for a good gaming kb, look for this guy at best buy. Should be cheaper there.

The thing I have always loved about IBM key boards is how heavy they are. Feels like you could stop a rino if you hit it with one.
