If you have a 56k connection or lower, there is hope yet!

I have been playing the beta for over a week now, I first used a DSL line at my work thinking thats the only way it would work, I soon decided to try it at my home. I can only get a 28.8k connection where I live. The game runs just fine on that, in fact there was very little delay, the only problem I had was with huge battles (duh) but other than that it wokred almost as well as DSL.

Another note, on the DSL I could participate in the biggest battles there were with no lag what so ever.

My computer is as follows:
AMD Athlon 2200
Gforce 4 4400 Ti
Soyo Dragon MB
blah blah the rest doesn't matter.

I have to questions how big of a battle did it have to be to have unbearable lag? And did you you trying flying with 28.8 and did it work ok

I'm hoping it will be like EverQuest as far as lag and ping times are concerned. I connect at ~28.8 and have no trouble in EQ unless it's on a raid with like 80 people. A huge raid in EQ should be similar to a large battle in PS, and most of the time it will be fine. I hope...

THANK YOU! You have put my fears to rest. Not only do you have to load fewer textures in the sky, I plan on setting everything to "Blocks shooting dots" settings. Hehe.
Although my uber-fast satellite proxy may work, I doubt it. Not even AOL will accept my poor proxy. :(

To answer your questions, yes, flying worked just fine. Once you got 30 - 40 peeps in close proximity firing every wich direction, and reavers doing fly bys etc. etc., it went down hill, the lag is interesting.. Once you get behind on updating the people around you it snowballs from there, and you have to respawn away from the action to let your connection catch up, then it is fine. Also, being in a large squad AND having lots of people around you makes things alot worse due to the game having to update EVERY single persons life and armor in your squad.

But for the most part, it is very bearable, and I am very satisfied so far.. plus I know it's only going to get better, it is only beta afterall :)
