I've recently ordered a new graphics card, which is 8x AGP. Of course, me being an idiot, forgot to check what AGP my mobo can handle, and now i have no idea how to check to see if my mobo will be able to take the new card. I've tried system information, but that doesn't say anything, and nothing shows up when i boot up.

Specs, if needed, :

Pentium 4 1.7 GHz
512 RAM
nVidia geforce 2 mx (that's the current card, the new card is a geforce 4)
Win XP Home

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that if your mobo doesn't support 8x AGP, the card will just run at 4x by itself.. might not be right though.

8X is just the max it can run at..

a 8X card will run fine in a 4x slot, you won't have anny problems

:D *whew*

Thanks guys, I was really worried for a second there. Still, just out of interest, is there a way for me to check my maximum AGP?

check in the bios or read the mobos manual
