This is for all you out there who ask everyone what their system is when they talk about PS...

Athlon 2000xp 1.6 oc'd to 1.7
Asus AV7333 mobo (I think)
1 gig 333mhz Ram (probably what got me into beta)
Gainward geforce 4 ti4400
Cable modem, on the box with a real good conection.

Now to Game

On High, I get a little Laggy (meaning FPS short) but not bad, onlt real slow downs with 40+ people on screen, and huge, ie. unplayable with 60+

On Recomended, Virtually no Lag at all. Smooth as a babies butt. Then some babies have pretty bumby butts. This would be like Cyssor in the middle of peak time with 500+ people on the continent I start to get laggy.

Medium, with the draw distance maxxed! This is what I play at all the time. So far it is pretty much perfect, looks pretty, and I get almost no Lag. The only problem I've seen was durring a Massive battle but I think that very easily could have been server side, as most everyone was complaining... and the FPS was fine, just interacting with a terminal took some time.

So other people in BETA who wanna give hope to those who soon will be, post your specs and what settings you run at.

I run PS with

2.4 GHz Pentium IV
786MB RAM DDR (Just upgraded today)
GeForce FX 5800 Ultra
512k/256k GCI Cable

It runs beautifly, with the graphics cranked to the max settings. Before I upgraded to 768MB RAM I had some choppyness when opening doors and walking out of buildings. But now that I boosted that up it doesn't get choppy anymore. I would like to add that the devs are awesome for adding the super high texture resolution settings for ub3r comps.

for all the poor people out there like me:

1 ghz
640 megs of cheap ram
a cheap 64 meg gforce4 video card

the game runs fine. i of course turn off alot of the goodies but i still think the game look sharp when i play.

Yeah, we know you people with uber computers can run the game without problems. Let's get to some poor people comparisons. :>

Are you actually playing PS Heko? If so you might want to mention how the game runs.
If you're not....then...nevermind

How does the 5800 ultra sound, Saint? I've heard reports that it was fairly loud.

2.40ghz P4
512mb DDR400
Geforce 4 ti4200 128ddr
Good cable connection

havent run max textures but with draw and everything else cranked the game looks awsome and plays superbly. Only lag I have seen was server side and to that extent it wasnt too bad at all.

AMD 1700+
512 PC2700 DDR
Radeon 9000 64mb
Cable connection

Been running well, smoothest beta I have ever been in. My hard drive was "hitting" a lot last night and a GM told me nothing was going on server side, still confused about that, it was causing some chop.

I play 1024 with almost all details on, draw distance about 75%

It makes a whirring noise, a little louder than my Ti4200, but I don't notice it that much. I mean what can you expect from a liquid cooled video card? Of course it is gonna make more noise. I love the thing to death and I would take it over a 9700 Pro anyday. I suggest this card to anyone who can't decide between it and the 9700 Pro. If you have the money and the patience, for crashes and problems, then you should go for the 9800 Pro. This card is all that and a bag of chips. It performs the same, if not better than a 9700 Pro.

You must have a magik laptop, because PS won't run on mine with a geforce4go420 with 16mb video ram.

I played PS with the lowest setting, but 1024 full screen.

I checked how my video card was doing, and what surprised me that planetside took only about 2 megs of memory!
But it hogged most of my page file on RAM.

Runs fine, very smooth with an occasianal BSOD or crash. This game is basicly RAM dependant, Video helps but RAM is what pulls the carriage.

I have the exact same setup

I don't have beta yet. I'll probably get it Thursday. I'll tell you all how PS runs in a few days.

AMD Athlon 1ghz
384 133mhz SDRam
Geforce4 Ti4200 64mb DDR
Cable

Tested it a few days ago by grabbing a Mosquito and flying around the sanctuary when it was packed, and even on high graphics it was decent, but would have been too loaggy for intense combat. Medium was good, but after an hour or so of playing the lag would be intense.

So i play on the lowest possible settings until i upgrade. :D

One thing you might want to note ... terrain such as grass cant hide you, as i dont even see it. :p

Athlon xp 1.8ghtz (Dual)
1 gig DDR ram
GF4 Ti4600
aDSL, 640k down/not sure up

It runs perfectly fine on my system... the lag I get I attribute to my internet going slow (which is a constant problem) or the server having problems (or just since its on an opposite coast)

How would it run on a
2.1 Pent 4
512 ram
Radeon 9700 128 pro
cable connection
Anyone know how the game would run with this?

Heko
2003-04-15, 09:13 PM
It would run pretty smooth in high graphics mode. Set it in medium once there are more than 60 people on screen, though.

Don't we have a separate forum for this? Heh. :p

Eww... I hope they change that for release. Because if there's an option to take that off, people will be taking it off no matter how good their systems are to get a gameplay advantage.
