Actually I find that the number of females in the multiplayer gaming world is increasing pretty sharply. Arguably, this can be attributed to MMORPG's, specifically Everquest, as females generally are more interested in socially themed games. As far as the female model thing, Kobe Tai of porn star fame is a figurehead of the Unreal community (i wish i was makign this up). She even appears in columns on modding and overclocking sites, and yes, she has a sweet modded case. Hell, even a lot of celebrites are being exposed as gamer nerds. Robin Williams, Jack Osbourne, etc. Guess the rest of the world is finally realizing what the more instinctually nerdy among us find so fun about online gaming ;)

Granted, the majority of the online gaming community at large is and will probably remain in the male majority. Regarding the MMORPG comment, I speak from personal experience involving females I know, as im really not too interested in playing EQ :p . On the other hand, I know exactly what you mean. I have freinds with the same "being female gets me advantages" mentality.
