Which is better?

The past couple of years I haven't had much interest in games like starcraft. but recently I have become quite interested. I was thinking about bying either starcraft or warcraft. Which is better, and if you suggest something else, tell me.

I can say that Warcraft 3 is one of the greatest games i've ever played. You can pick up Starcraft for pretty cheap, so if you can afford it, i suggest you get both Warcraft 3 and starcraft. Warcraft 3's singleplayer campaigns were so much fun, the cinematics were amazing, the story was gripping and believeable, and it runs VERY well on full graphics on my friend's Geforce 2 MX400. it's a very good game.

I'm in the Beta for The Frozen Throne (the WC3 expansion) and I can tell you, once Blizzard is done with this, it'll probably end up very close if not better than Starcraft in terms of popularity. It's truly an excellent expansion, and adds so much to the game in terms of gameplay (no, not tons of units, actual depth instead) that it's really quite amazing.

So, anyway, Starcraft: Broodwar is a better strtegy game than Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos, but IMO, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne is a better strategy game than Starcraft: Broodwar. And the storyline/atmosphere of the game is better too.

Warcraft3 is horribly unbalanced.
Warcraft3 relies too much on heroes and who can level them the fastest by seeing who is luckiest with npcs near them.
Warcraft3 is extremely boring.

Starcraft isn't.

Well, first off Starcraft; for a game made in 98 or whatever is really great. The campaign is pretty fun, and the cut scenes are great; especially the one where those rines and ghost get trapped in the sci vessel, and blow it up, that was just plain awesome. The online play is awesome, and the only bad thing is that, most of the people on there act 5 years old so just ignore the timmys. Warcraft 3 was slow, boring, and and the online play is always fouled up for me.

Starcraft is old school goodness. Just about anything Blizzard makes is good. :D

Warcraft is the same as starcraft except for the time difference.

Completely untrue. All players start with identical creep camps near them. There is absolutely no element of luck to it. If you're good at controlling your units, creeps are a resource. If you're bad at controlling your units, they're an obstacle.


Anyway, as I said, The Frozen Throne completely (and I mean completely, right down to the economy and upkeep) changes how Warcraft 3 plays. It's unbelievable how different the game is.

Starcraft. I guess until Frozen Throne comes out, anyway. I didn't like Warcraft 3 because it focuses too much one guerilla (sp?) tactics for an RTS. If I'm going to use that form of warfare, I prefer to be down in there. Fighting and commanding.

wc3 is ok but I prefer Age of Kings:The Conquerors over all other rts.

i've always been a cinematic gamer, i love games that have involving games and character development, which is why i like warcraft 3 better.

it has interesting races, a great story and is very atmospheric, far more so than starcraft.

there are a few balance issues at the moment, that can't be denied, but starcraft also had them until a about a year after release.

WC3 beats starcraft in just about everything, graphics, story, characters, world setting.

but just the fact that i'm comparing a game made in '98 to warcraft 3 is also a testamet to what a great game blizzard does with it's games.
