I am upgrading my pc soon for Planetside. What minimum PC specs would you need to play the game in highest max detail, 1024 x 768 and achieve flawless, smooth framrates even during intense battles with lots of peeps?
Give me minimum specs to achieve this in your opinions.

And you'll get the same answer, but I guess facts are less important to you than supposition eh?
Ok...minimum specs for your listed goals:
P5, 8.2 GHz
Radeon 16500 video card, with 1248 MB of RAM.
2 TB of System RAM
5000 TB HD, with 60,000 RPM rotation, .5 nS seek time
DirectX 11.4
You must be physically located no further than 300 yards from the server farm, connected via fibreoptic cable.
Is that better?
Ouch, is it just me or is it hot in herre?
/note to self : Do not ask people about system specs, easily flamable

Matuse... How much does this cost!? and where can i get it!?

Well, first you funnel several hundred billion into making a time machine...then you jump ahead 4-5 years and buy that computer for $500, and bring it back.
Cheap!

Well.. For the record, if you want flawless performance;
Pentium 4 - 2.4B
1024 PC-2700 DDR-333 System Memory
40 GB - 7200RPM/8MB Buffer-CACHE/8.2MS Seek Time
GeForce 4 Ti-4200 128MB
Its the system that me and my friend use, exact same things in each of them... It works for us, maybe for you. Best of luck..

You're asking for something that is nearly impossible. Yes, the time machine would be required. Heh. You can't hjave constant high frame rates. Too many variables. Connections, things like that. I'd recommend get a P4 3 Ghz, Radeon 9800 Pro, 2 Gigs of fast DDR ram, fast ass HD..and other stuff. Basically, get redy to spend 10,000 dollars or build a time machine. One of the two. The good part about the time machine if you finish it before you die you can always go back in time and fix everythign and bring an uber computer from the 22nd century.

yeah, what he said except get a radeon 9500 pro 128 mb instead

I GAURENTEE this will do it
AMD 3000+
ASUS motherboard with 8x AGP
1 gb of PC2700 DDR ram
ATI 9700pro 128mb
And since cost obviously isn't an issue, why don't you throug in the most expensive projector you can find so you can play PlanetSide on a 44 inch screen.

My specs...
AMD 2800+ (2.25ghz)
ASUS Nforce2 deluxe MB
1GB Corsair LL Matched pair RAM
120GB Western Digital HD (8mb cache is awesome)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (128mb)...BTW, I am a diehard fan of Nvidia products, but this ATI card is absolutely incredible and I have had very few problems with the drivers...
I got that, and everything else needed to build a comp, for $1500 from newegg.com (case, CDRW, floppy, round cables, etc...).
Some examples:
I have only brought it to it's knees once and that was playing America's Army: Ops at 1600x1200 resoultion with all video settings on and in Mountain Pass. And actually it was still playable (20-30fps avg)... I play normally at 1024x768 w/ full settings and average 60-120fps depending on the map. I'm betting Planetside will be FAR better optimized than AA:O.
I can do NToV raids in Everquest with 60+ people with max clipping, high resolution, full particle effects and all models on with zero video lag.
I'll be logging into Beta this weekend so I'll report back how it looks

Hehe, Deus... No.
Corrosion,
I've seen MANY people with nearly the same getup. It explains why it was so hard getting everything I wanted from Newegg at the same time... they kept running out of stuff. My roommate has an identical machine, and I have 2 coworkers who plan on building the same box too. I've been extremely happy with the end product.

Terran, and yea, sorta.. im in this other group that has a tiny PS division, but im still kinda lookin around. Got my cd's today >_< installing now.
ASUS P4T533-C mobo
P4 2.9ghZ
Radeon 9700 PRO
512 RDRAM
Audigy Platnium
Sony DVD rom
Plextor CD_RW
60 & 80 gig WD HD's
I run at 1280x960
all gfx on high
in advanced gfx tab I shut off half of the things that are useless. Like High res bridge, weapons, armor, rock. These are a waste of RAM imo and do not look much different on or off so I shut those off.

Great!!! That means mine is going to be waiting for me when I get off work. I'm also in a large gaming clan but has no PS division so I'm looking...but I'm gonna be Vanu since my other friends are 'swinging' that way(well they really don't swing that way, they think the armor looks cool but I have a hard time getting over the purple color).

Heres the computer I'm ordering, or at least it might be the one, I'm thinking of trying a retailer instead of custom built, but Alienware is the only place I'd go.. (Its all perfectly built with no junk shit like HP and Compaq)
My Retrive ID is:

And the total is: $3,871.00

True, but I'm loyal to Nvidia and will go with them over ATI. Until some day I decide to try ATI. Which will be when I have lots of money that I dont care about. Which should be this summer. =D

well I have a 2400xp I bought a few months ago and had financial problems suddenly come up so I coudln't finish my pc build. I was worried right now it might be considered a weak cpu and woudln't be able to handle max detail too good.
