I got in to beta yesterday downloaded the patch and everything runs pretty smove but the sound... I play Tribes 1 and EverQuest alot, in Tribes I have the same problem my sound is choppy and the voices won't work in EverQuest I have no sound problems.
The computer is only a couple months old it was sopposed to come with a top of the line sound system, sub woofer and all but I keep getting the choppy tribes 1 sound, any help would be great..
Thanks

What you have is most likely a software problem not a hardware problem. Try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your sound card. Also, you can try switching the games to software sound instead of hardware. Switching to software sound should only be a temporary fix as doing so uses up your CPU cycles thus making your games run slower (probably not a problem in tribes or EQ but it very well could be in PlanetSide).

If I remember correctly hardware acceleration (or software) can't remember which, does not work well at all for a lot of cards. Just try switching modes and it should fix the problem.

I'm having the same prob as Rot, i will try and download the latest drivers for my sound card... but what i didnt understand was the software/hardware switch? do i have to do it in a games file or is it a thing you can do in the game in the options menu? i know some stuff bout computers but i dont know much bout the sounds or anything... so if the update drivers doesnt work, then how do i change the software to hardware?

It's in the options. I can't exactly remember where but I am pretty sure there is a sound tab and on that page it has a pull down menu for the options of what type of acceleration to use for the sound.

If you type in dxdiag in your run menu, DirectX diagnostic tool comes up. Then click the Sounds tab and you'll know the kind of sound card you have.

Did you restart PS after changing the settings? Planetside neglects to mention almost every change relating to your hardware requires a Planetside reboot.
