How well do your implant(s) work for ya'll? Do they work as advertised or are you disspointed.
I got the advanced targeting one.... I rarely use it.

advanced targeting is the coolest implant that sucks in game because it's not a passive implant (you have to turn it on to use it, which is lame)

Darklight has been very helpful.

hmmm, I think my infiltrator will still get that one. I wanna know if I am picking off the sick weak one in the herd or picking a fight with the head bull. :D But I don't see much use for any other types of players.
Darklight works like a charm. Yesterday I was in Enkidu, or maybe Akan, on Ishundar. I spawned, and upon finding the facility to be hacked, I took my suppressor down to the CC. Right outside I switched on darklight and sure enough, there was a cloaked hacker sitting in the corner waiting for me to go to the console. I ventilated him with my suppressor, and he didn't even get a shot off. Amazingly enough, there was another cloaker watching me the whole time from the opposite corner, and he could have easily killed me, but he must have figued my killing the other was just a fluke. For his mistake, he died and I resecured the facility. We lost it shortly afterwords anyway, but eh--it's the small victories.
The most annoying cloakers are outdoors. Especially terran cloakers stalking around outdoors with their repeater. Can't counter that with darklight.

TR cloaker outside = me :D
Don't get me wrong, I still kill you guys. I just don't use darklight. ;)

yeah darklight isn't really necessary. It helps, but if you just keep your eyes open you'll catch them moving around. Darklight comes in real handy for those guys that don't have a problem spending 15 minutes to move 200 feet in game. The super patient and slow infiltrators are the worst.
Over all though, I'm using advanced regen until I get medic cert then I'll switch back to personal shield and eventually i'll pick up range magnifier

Has anyone tried Melee Booster?

I think darklight is an unneeded and overpowered implant.
Can I get an implant that strips away all the benefits and leaves only the negatives of a max user or tanker or just a plain old grunt?
When I go up against someone with darklight, I die. No ifs, ands or buts. Well, unless I grenade them from a distance.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Infil cert, pros and cons:
Pros:
- Invisible when standing still (to people without darklight)
- Fairly hard to see when crouch-walking (to people without darklight)
- Still somewhat difficult to follow when running full tilt (for newbs without darklight, any non-retard can easily see a cloaker running)
- Can get into a base more easily than other armor types (esp. with adv hacking) (unless there's someone with darklight nearby)
Cons:
- Weapon slots, or lack thereof. I get one pistol slot, 0 rifle slots.
Before melee booster, I would carry a MAG, 2 boxes of AI bullets, REK, and one grenade. In order to switch between pistol, grenade, and REK, I have to manually swap them into the slot.
Now that I have Melee Booster implant, I simply carry my REK and 6 grenades. I can do long range fighting and short (bodily contact) range, but have absolutely no midrange.
- I can't use my best weapon, the knife, on maxes
- I have very little inventory space.
Aside from my one pistol slot, I have room for 5 grenades and my REK. That's it. No med kits, no BANK, no command tool, no repair gun, no med gun.
- No armor
If I come up against a non newb who knows what a cloaker looks like, or someone with darklight, I have VERY little chance to survive. I just hope I can pull my knife and switch on secondary mode or toss a gren at them fast enough before they kill me.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Now Darklight DELETES any cons of the infiltrator suit, leaving me with only the negatives. No other implant is this powerful. I don't see an implant that removes the mosquito and reaver's ability to fly when I look at it. I don't see an implant that lets me turn off the firing of a normal grunt. I don't see an implant that forces a max to look only at the ground and removes his ability to move. These would be ridiculous! It would make using any of those things ludicrously hard!
But that is exactly what darklight does to infiltrator suit users. Normally, without darklight, I can be seen when moving, and I just about glow when I'm actually attacking (which pulling a grenade back to throw counts as). I don't mind the hearing amplification implant, that still leaves some ambiguity as to where I am....but being in the same room as someone with darklight means I'm almost certainly going to die in about one second's time or less.

Can i swap out implants like i do guns and armor? I don't want to go and take out my implant to find out i have to wait till BR 12 to get another.

Peanut,
Unless you are willing to increase your opacity while invised, I see no alternative to overcoming stealthers without the implant.
Granted if you are running full speed, you will show up sufficiently, at least in my opinion, but if you move forward crouching you're damn near invisible.
I've seen firsthand too many infs take out my squad mates right in front of my eyes and not be able to hit them, and I've had pretty damn good success at hunting stealthers so I know what I'm looking for. I've also played with infiltration armor, and quite frankly I decimated quite a few people right from the start using an AMP. When there are lots of bullets flying and multiple people in an area it's really hard to spot the stealther.
The worst is in Esamir, where during the daytime a sprinting Infiltrator will not show up against the white snow background.
It sucks dude, and I honestly feel for you, but I think something has to be changed. Maybe tie the darklight implant to stamina. I believe right now it's passive like adv targeting.
Oh and btw, why doesnt the knife work on MAXs? I've been killed twice by infs when wearing a MAX, because I simply couldn't turn around fast enough. I was all but certain they took me out with a knife because of the speed at which I went down.

Knives dont hurt MAXs, even with the boost (i beleive), and darklight is tied into stamina.

I'm not in beta so I have to ask...
Does anyone use that Audio Amplifier implant to detect cloakers? It seems that darklight makes it obsolete.
Or does Audio Amplifier have other benefits? Like you can detect the movements of people behind walls or something? Dunno, sounds like an unsung implant.

Darklight isn't overpowered....i switched to it last night. It's not like you can run it all the time. And it's really only usefull catching steathers in the bases, especially underground.
Even with a bunch of people with dark light.... i can still sneak behind Maxes and throw down a couple boomers... before they realize what is happening.

Knives do hurt maxes? Pretty sure I killed one last night. Just don't try it without melee boost or you will be respawning soon.

Unless they fixxed it in the last patch Knives do NO dammage to MAX.
Darklight is not overpowered, it cuts you view range to about 20 feet and makes eveything odd within that range... It's only good for nailing stupid solo stealth hackers... but within a pitched battle, or a squad action, the Stealth monkey's go unnoticed. And Darklight is too much of a hallse to use to kill off a few Stealthers.
Second wind is OK, but I'd take Regen any day over it. If your a Stealth monkey and don't use mellee boost... well, I wouldn't understand it.
I figure at BR20 lots of people will be running Regen, Shield, and either ADV targeting or Darklight.
And the stupid Audio AMP is uslesss as best I can tell.
That is all

Well, that would explain my success rate killing maxes with a knife. LOL:o

Boomers are the best way for stealther to kill maxes... I don't think we can hold enough ammo to even kill an afk Max with our pistol.

Hehe TR Infil outside thats me. I just love goin behind the dam pheonix blasters, planting a spitfire, steping back pulling out my repeater, and cleaning up. Which is why i dont say that the pheonixes are cheap. Wait till they fire, build, run, stop, fire, dead.
I think it would be a good idea for Advanced Targeting (or maybe another implant) to show the Command Rank and Battle Rank of players... so you can try to knock out the Commander earlier in attack.
The downside being too much information to see the people your trying to kill

from the things i hear bout these i think they should change it to where the Darklight and Adv targetting dont use your stamina.... it doesnt seem right... for a sniper it would because well they wont be moving much unless they change positions (which they should) but other than that all other classes should get them as passive abilities. thats me though :p

This isn't useless and while its not better than darklight for stealth killing it still does the job. Especially when on defense. An added bonus of it is the radar, since your whole squad can see the blips on radar. Although I think it is a little buggy or the rules regarding its range of effect is skewed.

Hmmm, so if nobody uses Audio Amp implant, then I guess nobody uses the Silent Run implant either. Hehe, Darklight makes both of them obsolete.

Having darksight use stamina is what balances it.... if it used no stamina, it would take no stratagy to use it.
I messed with my targeting implant a bit before i switched to darksight. I found targeting really helps to find those almost dead foes to take out... being a stealther/engineer i don't have much ammo or firepower to try to take out full strength ones all day, that implant helps chose your targets more carefully.
