Sorry, I don't have any. But I was thinking it would be nice if those of you who have had some success as a grunt would share some advice for those of us who, uh, aren't doing so well. :( Fire away, and thanks.

Stay with other grunts, especially when you want to kill a max, its much easier to do so when 6 guys are shooting it. Also, squad level tactics can help. For example, when I was working to take a base with my squad, we broke up into 3 man teams to make things easier and smoother. It all depends on how you play now I guess. As for basic tips, don't waste ammo as sometimes you may find yourself down to the 20 shots or whatever left in your starting pistol clip, and most importantly, be aware! When a MAX sneaks up on a person, it means they have no situational awareness, if you can get that, you will do very, very well in this game. I've saved my squads snipers from infils so many times now its almost funny. If you have any specific questions, post and I'll check in as often as I can. Hope any of this has helped.

If you dont have AP ammo and you see a MAX, either hide or run. Grunt weapons with normal (white) ammo doesnt even scratch a MAX (literally).
Never attack a MAX alone, even if you do have AP ammo unless you KNOW the MAX is a few hits from death.
If all you have is a pistol, even with AP ammo, and you see a MAX, run.
Get the anti-vehicle cert reasonably quick. I for one know that Pheonixs/Decimators (common pool weapon) hurt MAXs a hell of alot when they are hit multiple times.
Learn the different weapons/MAXs abilities. I suggest just jumping into the game and learning by trial and error, as thats the funnest :D, then learn to exploit those weaknesses. (Ex. Seeing NC grunts/MAXs try to attack from a distance, as theres a reasonably good chance their main weapon is a shotgun : not great at long range)
Dont understimate wall turrets or spitfire (deployable) turrets.
A medic or (especially) engineer can be a huge lifesaver.
A small vehicle (Harasser, Wraith or Basilisk) is great for getting from point A to B and great fun to off road with. :D
However, the advice i would give all new players is just grab the Anti-Infantry MAX cert and go straight into the action. MAXs are very easy to get kills with and are hard to take down, especially indoors, unless you see another MAX. :p

Scavenging is your friend. Loot ammo and better weapons (ex. Phoenix missile launcher) from the dead to adapt to the battle and keep yourself stocked up on ammo and supplies.
If you're fighting a vehicle, never ever go out into open terrain. The only way you can keep yourself from being driven over by a vehicle is to make sure you use trees or larger rocks to get between you and the enemy.
Plasma sets all people in its blast on fire. Looking for an infiltrator? Throw a few plasma grenades and set him on fire.
This is not Counter-strike. There are no headshots. Use cover as best as you can, because your head poking out from behind a stack of crates won't invite death in this game. It'll keep you alive much longer.

Build your char as a team char, not a solo char if you want to be a grunt. By that i mean, have atleast 1 of the 3 grunt squad certs (hacking, medic, enginering).
Always get some sort of AV weapons. AP bullets are a waste of inventory space unless its a shotty. Get the AV cert.
Get reinforced armor for grunting, you'll need the second slot for your AV weapon.
Stay whit your squad. Solo = lose.
Never walk infront of people thats firering.
Never stand near the wall oposite of a clamped down MAX.
Always man the GUNNER positions of vehicles before you take passenger slots.
Watch it whit the nades. Blowing up friendlies is bad, and yes plasma burns your squadmates too.
Listen to the commander and do as he says.
And finaly, have fun playing :)

Never stand near the wall opposite of a clamped down MAX.
Im a Terran MAX driver and I think this is the best advice I've heard so far. Now if only my outfit would listen.. I think Ive killed my squadmates five or six times now, because they insist on running in front of my blazing guns..
They wind up like Breckinridge in Starship Troopers! LOL

My advice?
Eh, get a darklight.
Heh. My kill versus got killed ratio today was insane, so many people didn't even know I was there until it was too late. :-)
