I have read through the forum about tank discussion and not one person mentioned the single person tank the Lightning. Has it been overlooked as an option for the people who like to drive a tank but control no gun? Or has it been checked out and no one likes it? I would like to get some feedback on this because I plan to drive one when I get PS.

From what I've seen in game and in VR. Yeah its cool to control the weapon systems on the tank and its pretty quick. Why no one has commented on it could just be a coincidence or maybe some people dont like it. In any case it seems pretty cool to me.

It's a little too hard to shoot, as from what I read and see, you have to turn the whole tank to aim horizontally, as it can't swivel much.

Good point. All in all its not my favorite tank but it's pretty rad none the less.

its ok but it dose suck half the time if you stop when moving like 50% you take dmg and you can move the gun at a 80ds it would be better if it was a 180ds

Lighting 101
It's damn fast for a tank, if you've seen any of the videos.
It's one manned. And because the DEVs don't want this turning into MechWarrior, and ppl using it as some kind of armour/vehicle, it costs 4 certs.
It's got anti-infantry and anti-vehicle (anti-air as well? )
The driver controls the guns (duh)
I'm not in beta, but from what I heard awhile ago, a pack of Lightnings are a force to be reckoned with.

Well from what you guys who have used the Lightning have said it seems like a good overall tank. I think it will be worth spending the 4 certs it takes to get it.

it's not a bad platform, but i'm a team player, and since i'm in an outfit and always with my buddies, it just isn't a great option for me. Why would i get a 1 man tank that can do a bit of damage but only benefits ME when I could spend 1 less cert, get a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better tank, and give my squadmate a ride in the process?

They fixed the damage thing I mean, if you stopped short in the lightning you would take an armor hit

A few clan mates and myself started new characters and immediately specced lightning so we could run around in packs.
That thing is pretty dangerous.. very very fast, extremely maneuverable too. I was pretty happy with the damage until I tried to take out an AMS. It seemed like I was firing forever and I couldn't do jack to it. It is very easy to run people down with it though. I'm not so sure what kind of damage that thing can take, I know I got nailed by a phoenix which hurt obviously, but I got the crap kicked out of me by auto phalanx turrets. Those things still suck.
The AMS to me takes too much damage now especially with it's increased immunity to AP fire. The thing looks like a damn refrigerator on rollerskates, I don't understand how they can suck up so much damage :/
