Been playing around with combat engineering.
Some Qs:
What are the limits on placements of devices?
Are these limits per SOI, or overall per character?
Are the messages for "must place outside" and "too close" a little buggy, or am I just trying to place too fast for 'em? Anyone else having trouble figuring out those limitations?
Ditto for the messages for repairing folks?
Any tips, tricks for turret / mine / sensor placement?
Thanks!

Foop, no answers?
I know there's the 20 limit - is that per character, SOI, or what?

I posted the answer to this earlier today...
The limits are per character.
10 Spitfires
20 Motion Sensors
20 Mines
5 Boomers

Limits on placement is per device:
20 prox mines
10 spitfire turrets
20 sensors
Limits on placement
Boomers- Anywhere on ground
prox mines- anywhere on ground outdoors (certain distance between mines though)
Spitfire - outdoors and within SOI (certain distance between turrets)
Sensors - anywhere within SOI (certain distance between sensors)
You have to pan your target to the ground to place them.... just watch for your rectical to turn green.

When you zone, or log for a certain amount of time...they go away.
There are a few other threads today on combat engineer tips... check them out :)

Before the last patch, i was able to place more than the limit, i expect that bug has been fixed.
Boomers can be placed right next to vehicles to blow them up, great party fun.
When placing sensors, bring up the map, youll see what area is being scanned/monitored, and give you an idea where to place additional units.
I havent tried using a boomer to take out a generator yet, but it should work well.
I noticed a motion sensor on a wall sideways, didnt know that was posible, ill try that when i get the chance.
Dont forget to place mines all over the area, you may not take out a tank with them but they do damage, that will help your other guys out. they do well though at killing foot soldiers if there health isnt 100 %, they take about 90% of my life away in a stealth suit. I think they made them weaker in the last patch, but more sensitive, cant sneak by them like before (cloaked).

Whenever place a turret, mine or sensor over the limit you get a message like this example: "You have placed 21 of 20 mines, the oldest mine in your history has been destroyed"

I will give away one of my evil tricks. If you find an AMS...dont blow it up right away.
Place a prox mine by the spawn tube and a boomer by the equipment terminal.
as people respawn they will keep hitting the prox mine... if they spawn on the other side and run to get their equipment....hit them with the boomer.
Rinse and repeat till your mines end up blowing up the AMS or you are out of mines.
Also works if you put a turret by the equipment term if the AMS is in your SOI.

I prefer to hack enemy AMS's, they really hate that, and if its in the middle of a big battle your squad will love you for it.

<----- doesn't have advanced hacking..... and sometimes it's more fun to toy with an AMS than it is to just blow it up :)

Hell I just hack everything I find, I wish I could Hack MAXs to make them shoot themeselves in the face. Hacking someones vehicle and deconstructing it, then watching them come out looking for it is hilarious. Especially Galaxies and Reavers and stuff like that.

So, mines will trigger for foot troops? I thought they only trigered for vehicles and MAXs.

They blow up on everything that is foe.... they don't discriminate.
I luv dem

Would make mines not much of a deal, if that was the case. I plan on Combat Engineering (+prerequisite), Inf. Suit and Reinforced (different situations), and medium assault first. Then probably Skeeter.
