I love it... I hated it when ppl would run around hacking bases, making u have to go to places with like one enemy hacker precent and then having to retake the damn thing...
Think this will make the game much better.

Really bad idea, yea i like how it stops infils, but now my squad can lets see... HART drop and take a base in the middle of searhus, INSTEAD
its empires fighting for one or 2 or 3 bases at a time. and with the only 2 or 3 bases availible, guess what? you have like 5 squads tryign to cap one base, which leads to teamkilling and yelling and frustration cause you want the cep and the hack,
like shit i command and this will ruin it

I'll refrain from voting until I actually get to test it...
I think it's a good thing. Makes for larger, more concintrated battles and less base hopping.

Rumour has it that there is more than one continent. Also, as it said in the patch notes, you can force a base into Neutral status by destroying its turrets and base facilities to cause it to deplete NTU's for auto-repairs. That'll let you hack a base without going through the lattice, although it'll take a bit longer to do.

How can we tell if we like it yet?

I agree with Nitsch and Virtuoso There is no way to tell if it will work right or not.
I am keen on the idea though

Look deep within yourself... you'll find the answer in the depths of your heart and soul... does it agree with a latice base capture system or not?
;)
But really, just what do you think of the idea? You don't have to balance test it now, just whether or not you want just random attacks all over Auraxis or if you want to be able to control areas and not just bases.

I'm not going to vote till i have tested it... but I prefer defending, and prefer not to hop from base to unoccupied base like most squads like to do now.
If this produces huge epic battles i will like... but if some unseen side effects happen that increases drudgery, i will be dissappointed.
I thought I would hate this game before i tried it.... I'm not very good at guessin the future.

I agree, there could be some nasty side effects from this.
It might force battles into a select few bases (though I don't really see how), or maybe it'll ruin an infiltrator's role (don't really see why it'd do that either). Those are just unlikely examples, but there could be some other unforeseen problems that comes up. Even then, I'm sure it will be dealt with.
Overall, I can say I like the idea of the post-lattice PS better than the pre-lattice PS, however. :)

If this really does cause most of teh battles to be huge, then us 56kers are screwed.

BAD
it would cause less freedom, couse then u could only attack like 4 bases, what it is now u can attack anything u want, that makes the game more like "Free to do anytrhing u want".

where is the "we have no idea because none of us has actually tried it" option?

Worse case, most dire situation possible, you don't have a single base anywhere at all, you would still have 3 bases you could hack. I would guess 15-30+ is a common range for base cap options (and it is really easy to adjust lattice lines to increase the number if this is a problem). And you can always "punch through" the matrix and attack anywhere.

I am for it all the way. :p

Platoons will solve this to some extent. And the rest will have to be happy just killing the enemy.
Remember Planetside DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND BEP! The main fun is just playing, if all you care about is gaining experience, you're missing the whole point.

Seems like most people who are against it fear rampant TK'ing...

I didnt bother reading every post but i'm posting anyway. If i'm not mistaken You can still HART drop deep in enemy territory and takeover a base. You just can't hack it. Since some bases give you specific advantages. Going in taking over enemy staging points and such is worthy cause.

You mean just sit in the middle of an enemy base deep in enemy teritory?
Am I understanding your plan correctly?

for those of you who say you hate it, go into the game right now, you'll change your mind

I love the epic action and intense battles brought out by this new system. That is not to say it is without problems. My problems with the matrix idea can be summed up in 5 words: It lags like a mother!!
With all those people fighting over one base, my FrameRate has been reduced to rubble at the feet of PlanetSide. Oh well, it was about time I upgraded my computer anywho. :D

god, i've played it now and it's even worse than it looks on paper, HORRIBLE LAG on a 2.6mbit connection, probably unplayable for 56k this will break the game if it stays in, if the final form of the game is like this i will not buy it its so horribly bad
better ways to thwart the ghost hacker than teh unholy lattice
A: need 2-3 ppl to hack CC hacking at same time, or hacking diferent modules
B:make REK thumper/rocklet sized so no hacking for inf suits
C:decrease the amount of facilities on the continents and make them more powerful
D:remove the sanctuaries there should be a single impenetrable fortress for each empire that has no implant terms or cert terms
Sando138

A would be viable.
B would practically destroy the 'infiltration' aspect of the infiltration suit, because to get in the building, you need to hack open the locks. it also helps if you can ressuply from an enemy cache.
C would only have MORE people in the SAME place and more contested = more laggy.
Sanctuaries arent likely to be removed so D is out. and cert terminals are only found on Sanctuaries, arent they?

I think the new patch has problems with lag/stability that have nothing to do with the lattice system.I'm not saying the matrix wouldn't effect lag/stability, just even in lightly populated areas I was crashing evrytime I killed anyone within 3 meters of me. Though I (and many others apparently) did get to experience the invicibility bug. :D
