i was wondering if anybody had any information on the 256mb Geforce FX.
i'm gonna get a new card, but if i am, i want a 256mb one, and i've heard that there will be a 256mb Geforce FX sometime this year.
could anybody please direct me to some information?

I would suggest evaluating your brand choice again. The new FXes fall suprisingly short unfortunately. :( Money wise you would be better off buying a 9700 Pro. Performance wise, 9800 Pro. I doubt NVidia will be able to pull off much of a fix even with 256 MB of RAM.

maybe... i'll look into it :)
but right now, i would prefer a 256mb card to justify a purchase, as i am sporting a ti4600 at the moment.
will the 9800 be 256mb?

actually, looking at my money, i think i'm gonna have to go with a 9700
do you think there is enough of a performance jump to justify buying a 9700 when you own a ti4600?
does it AA without choking?
can i turn all it's features on and still run games at max?

To answer your question, I plan on upgrading from a Ti4600 to a 9700 Pro. :D

and let me say this. I have only a 9500 PRO and I run Planetside on full detail with AA and AF (which is simply beautiful:eek: ) and she never chokes (well there was a time or two.. but I chalk that up to it being beta..)
so I could definitly tell you a 9700 PRO would do you wonders..

Yeah, AA runs a lot smoother with the newer ATIs.

I run the 9700 Pro 128 and it is smooth as silk. I think ATI really did a good job on that card. I had the ATI 8500 and liked it but not nearly as much as I like the 9700.

Yea I just went from an 8500 to a 9700. It actually plays better with the quality tweaked up some. But it can take a little work to get it to right visual settings, speed, and reliability you want. Everyones systems are different. One thing to note, I had been waiting on the 9800/128 or /256 for a month now and got tired of waiting. So I got the 9700 Pro at Compusa with a 1 yr replacement plan. The guy I bought it from said I could bring the card back within a year, just say it wasn't working, and I needed something else and they would put the money I paid on the 9700 Pro towards something else I picked. Free Upgrade anyone? It will atleast make putting out $500 on a /256'er easier.
As for the 256 stuff, there is yet to be any real annoucement specifically but VisionTek has annouced a contest that says they are giving away 9800 Pro's with 256 DDR ram. This is more than likely clocked at the same speeds as the 9800 Pro/128. Alot of ppl had been/still expecting an annoucement of a 9800 Pro/256 DDRII board with higher clock speeds. But it seems ATI is either waiting till E3 or after Nvidia puts out specs on NV35.
NV35 is a FX Ultra 5800 done better, but how much better is yet to be seen. Some early lower clocked developer samples have not performed very well. But rumor specs of the NV35 is 256 bit memory bus instead of 128 that killed the 5800 Ultra. 256 DDR ram, prolly have a 128 version also. Will not use DDRII ram like the Ultra did, prolly price, heat, etc problems. I really don't know if the NV35, a rehash of the 5800, can really fix all the horrible speed hits they take when you turn AA/AF on.

You just said a beutifull thing. PS at full graphics without lag is the holy grail to me. What your total system specs? Wondering if I might get the same performance when I upgrade my comp to the following specs:
2.0 Athalon XP 2400+
1gig PC3200
Radeon 9500 pro
Thanks in advance. :D
