For those of you that aren't in beta and wondering which side to pick?

Whatever you do, do NOT pick the New Conglomerate as they are definitely the sadest empire out there.

- You will constantly get owned by Chaingunning/Cycler Terrans

- You will be constantly owned by by the Lancer/Lasher combination of the Vanu. Remeber, they don't need armor piercing ammo as their weapons shoot right through your suit and attack your health.

- Lastly, the Vanguard is a complete waste of time. The Magrider completely owns this piece of junk. On 6 different occasions I have been OWNED by Magriders many times. Their energy beems are just too strong for the Vanguards armor.

- Oh, one more thing. The Phoenix (Which did need some toning down) is now relatively a short ranged weapon that you can barely steer.

- The guass, is an absolute piece of unadulterated shit. It's effectiveness compared to the other empire medium assault weapons is embarrassing.


I strongly suggest all you newbies to stay the FUCK away from the NC and go terran or vanu.

Same thing that applies to chaingun and lasher appliest to jackhammer. That thing is nasty now.

Only a really bad driver or gunner (or both!) could cause a vanguard to get beaten in 1v1 against a magrider. I've taken down two without repairs in between. They're not that tough.

Can't say much about the pheonix, haven't used it, I've heard it sucks cat turds now though.

Gauss works fairly well for me. Just use short bursts (like they say in Alien :D ), and don't expect to go up against a chaingun or lasher 1v1 with a guass in your hands. Unless they really stink or are half-dead already.

Just too many disadvantages for the NC as oppossed to the disadvantages of the other empires. NC has the worst medium infantry weapons out there, and their maxs aren't very good either.

The vanguard is the best tank period.. there is no way that magrider can touch that thing.

The gauss needs work though, and so does the VS pulsar. The new cycler is how an assault rifle should be IMO, however it's painfully obvious after using all 3 rifles that the gauss could use one of the following: a recoil reduction, larger clip, slight power increase at range.

I haven't used the jackhammer enough to really comment on it, but as far as the chaingun goes, it isn't as good as it used to be, it's really only good indoors, or in short-medium ranges outside. Which is how the heavy weapons should be IMO.


Telling people to stay away from an empire isn't going to help shit though. Weapons are going to be tweaked more. I mean hell, the VS are completely nasty now, but look at them like 3 or 4 weeks ago, they were so damn sad it was comical. The devs will continue balancing.

I hate going up against Heavy Tanks... I've taken out 2 Vanguards as a TR player, but I shot 10 striker rounds (approx) into one once and didn't destroy it, but any less and it would suck. As far as the chaingun goes, I got it yesterday, getting rid of the cert today, it completely sucks.. It just isn't worth the 4 cert points, you are better off with a Cycler. Personally, I see nothing wrong with a gauss, having gone up against it.. Lasher is godlike, I don't have much trouble with Lancer users though.
