View Full Version : Once more into the TK, my friends

Ok, so last night Hijinks and I were in a two man squad contributing to the defense of Helheim on Esamir (Dalton, Vanu), with two or three others. We were just killing time until more people from STFU logged on, when low and behold there was someone whining their ass off about the game being unplayable without "certain settings", making it unfair and shitty. Don't ask me what it meant, but of course after a few minutes of spamcasting, Jinks interjects "It's not the game, I think you just suck". He's got a delicate touch, that Hijinks, but he was absolutely right.
Cut to a few minutes later and I spawn in my AMS, which is set up in the courtyard. As I'm preparing to hurl myself once more at the NC MAXes trying to keep a hack upstairs, I accidentally run to the wrong end of my AMS and undeploy it for a moment. Noticing my mistake right away, I redeploy the AMS and go equip. Hijinks is complaining to me that someone is undeploying my AMS and he goes around to the front end at the same time the shitfisting whiner does, and they both go to redeploy it (even though I had just done so). Of course, they both do and it undeploys and redeploys in rapid succession.
Sogar (the whiner) then turns without a word and TKs Hijinks, obviously thinking that he was maliciously undeploying a friendly AMS in the courtyard of a contested base.
Hijinks (over TS): WTF? I think I just got TKed.
Me: Yep. Hold on a minute.
<shot gun blasts> + 50 Grief
Me: Ok, so much for the TK.
This raises an eyebrow of the other guy who was near the AMS at the time, but he says nothing and continues watching. I also stand around and wait, to see what Sogar will do next. Of course, he immediately starts shooting me with his Suppressor.
<shot gun blasts> + 20ish Grief
Me: Well, got him again, he's trying to take me down.
Hijinks: Forget it, we should leave. He's just pissed that the game doesn't play well for him and is trying to ruin it for others.
Me: Yeah, I guess.
Of course, by this time he spawns again at my AMS and now rushes me with his knife.
<shot gun blasts> +20ish grief
So I immediately pack up the rig and drive it away, now ignoring the fact that this base is in enemy hands and about to fall to them. The guy who was watching now is really confused and says "WTF are you doing?"
Me: He TKed my squadmate. For that, death and he can fuck off.
Some other guy: Thanks
So I drive my truck to the next nearest base under attack and set up there. We broke the hack there while Helheim fell to the NC assault (about half a squad of them).
A few minutes later, and we're back at Helheim to help take the base back. I don't know what had happened in the time we were gone (other than a long walk overland for Sogar after I undeployed the only relatively close spawn point), but the first thing we see when we get back into the SOI was a kill message of Sogar, being TKed by yet another random guy (whose name escapes me). I can only speculate that Sogar finally found enemies he could take with the "settings" he plays under or whatever. Unfortunately, he was nearly as bad at TK as he was at killing proper targets, because this guy waxed him too.

Well, when I said he sucked I did add ':)'
It wasn't a 1/2 squad attacking either and they weren't in maxes. There was 2 or 3 of them. They were damn good though, which I think is where the guys frustation came from.

I tell ya, I bet I have accumulated more grief from blasting TKers off my squad mates than the TKers have gathered from attempting to TK :/

I havent personally encountered much TK at all, actually. I occaisionally get wiped out by a vehicle or some stray shot or something, but for the most part the general populous has been pretty agreeable. Lord help us when it goes gold though =X

Except that I was killed by a MAX, who must've been there ;)

I play NC and have not encountered any TKing at all. Aside from the ocasional running down of someone, not once have I seen anyone intentionally take down another member of our faction. I think the TRs and Vanu hate themeselves as much as they should.

Great story guys.
I haven't had any grief or tk problems lately. The weirdest grief thing I had happen was last week. I was standing still (looking at my inventory I think), wearing an infil suit, with no weapon drawn, and got 4 grief points out of nowhere. There wasn't even anyone else on my screen. I've still got no clue what happened. :)

I just picked up over 100 points yesterday because some people who I'm guessing were new to the beta because of the fileplanet thingy decided to run right in front of my vanguard pulling off the pad. They had stood near the front side of it, just watching while I waited in line..... then once I hop in and start moving I suppose they thought to gun or something... I ended up killing 2 of them! :)
That just sucks. It's hard enought not running into stuff/peeps in a big battle as it is...lol.

I once took out a Reaver which fell on someone from my team, killing them, and giving me +25 Grief.
Ever looked up just in time to see a flaming Galaxy fall on you?

I really hope this griefment system will stay in PS. It's frustrating to those who wana TK and destroy the day for other players but great for the rest of us who are in the majority. I wana fight soliders from enemy empires and not all the time be worried that people of my own empire will go and TK me. ;)

Yeah, heaven help us when this goes gold.
I thought that all the beta testers had to be 18. I guess there are ways around even the age barrier. Then again, most 18 year olds I know aren't mature enough to handle saying the word "condom", let alone actually working on making this game good.

I had someone join my squad who after a couple minutes began whining about the darklight implant being imbalanced. This guy obviously wanted stealthers to be like gods from the way he talked about it. I kept telling him he was a moron and just wanted it to be more unbalanced for the stealthers and that plenty of exp'd and good stealthers wanted the darklight as it is, since it was the only thing that could kill them. Well needless to say he left. We didn't invite him into the squad so he could whine to us..
Has anyone reported the bug on the beta forums about getting grief when ran over by someone? I know what the problem is, it's not really a bug. You do damage to a vehicle if it hits you. So naturally, you are getting grief for damaging the person's vehicle when they run you over. But if they are friendly, we shouldn't get any grief.... Just yesterday I was squatting, not moving, firing at the enemy. I had been there for a couple minutes. And some dude in a buggy comes flying at me and plows me. Don't even tell me he couldn't see me or avoid me....
If you are on Johari/Vanu, catch me in the sanctuary flying at top speed afterburners glowing 2 feet off the ground. And I won't hit a single person either.

Well most griefers in other FPS games are more than often very young players who have a hard time killing enemies because they suck so much. It's easier to kill your own team than players of enemy team. ;) That's the way it is, but it's nothing we can do about except game companies who can create rules how to deal with this. I think SOE have done a great job regarding this. Everyone will from time to time by accident kill and damage people of their own squad, but pure griefers tends to do it more often because of their bad and lousy day. ;)

hehe, sanctuary buzzing is the greatest sport ever. i want videos of people just running for their lives, though not in a single bit of danger.

I read somewhere that the reason you get grief when you get hit by a vehicle is that they want to discourage people from jumping in front of vehicles just to give the driver grief points. Whether or not that will work remains to be seen.

Lol this reminds me of what happened last evening.
Me and my squad was hacking a base ( i was leader ) and my moms yells at me to come do the dishes... My brother, who sits next to me, and have bugged me all day, asking if he could try and play, asks again. Seeing the hack going on, and nothing much in sort of enemies, i say sure, and leave to do the dishes.
He comes in 10 minutes later, asking why he couldnt shoot. So bieng done, i go in and check the computer. I see a big read sign on the center of the screen, with a gun crossed over, and a timer saying 25:47 mins...
Turns out he in 10 minutes, has accomplished getting 1300 grief points!!!
I mean wtf? he most have shot anything that moved or something.
Afterwards when i tried to play, it was like: Shoot enemy, shoot enemy, accidently hit friendly, get gref, get weap. lock for 5 mins.
I sure hope some of it has vanished during the nigth, coz that was unbareble... :( :( :( :tear:
Naturally he hasnt got permission to go into my room anymore...

Heh NC has it's share of TK hijinks....not exactly sure what happend last night, but in the CC of Horos (I think) just as we were getting the hack, folks were tk'ing like crazy.
Not sure how it all started, think i know how it ended....a CC crammed with about 10 folks, put down a couple det packs, park a max in the door, and boom.....300ish grief heh. It wasn't me, but I heard the story.

yah i enjoy when im pulling out of a base in a vanguard and people just stare while standing in front of my vanguard. i dont enjoy spending minutes explaining to them that they need to move so i can get to the battle so i just run them over.

I have had some fun with ye old TKing.
A couple weeks ago, me and a squadmate made it up to a cap room and I started to hack the base. I was almost done, when a same faction stealther procedes to kill me and my squad mate.
I pmed him asking wtf was that for. The response I got was hillarious. He started out on a rant about how he was new conglomerate's greatest hacker ever and how he deserved the hack because he was the NC's greatest asset.
Well, I made it back up to the cap room and got my TK revenge on him. My squadmates proceeded to kill him 3 more times. A minute or so later the continent crashed and reset the status of each base to unhacked and when I logged back in my squad got the hack.

i found a fun new sport: TKing the people that play with VMs during a battle while they sit in the CC.
*Incoming Enemy Aircraft!*
*run outside, crystal clear sky, and a max running down a few footmen*
*run back inside*
*kablam kablam*
"wtf you noob, go have sex with your mom" (probably not exact quote, but something stupid that i didnt particularly care about, he was just annoying)
"dude, go play with your VMs in the sanctuary"
*a few minutes pass*
*Cloaked Enemy Detected!*

I've had my share of TK'rs.
After the squad i was in collapsed (majority of us crashed suddenly, and having no spawn points a bunch went to sanctuary) i tried to form a new one. One of the former members, Rhinox i beleive, must have been pretty new to PS since he didnt know alot of the commands. After getting a full squad i jumped on Rhinoxs Prowler. Ignoring everyones yells to head for the Forseral warpgate he heads to the nearest one, which was Cyssor. I jumped out before he went through, but he backed up and ran me over, but i dont think it was on purpose so i was going to ignore it.
He then says "well thats what you get". I immediatly kicked him from the squad. Rhinox then spent the next 5 minutes driving around the sanctuary running people over and ramming our Galaxy. He didnt stop until i said i would report him. (Is there such a thing? :p )
A strange bug happened with that new squad, as well. After dieing to an NC and respawning at our base i requiped and ran out into the main foyer in the base. Seconds after getting inside a squadmate starts punching me full of holes with a suppressor. I was in reinforced, so it took a while. The whole time i just sat there staring at him since i knew he wasnt a TK'r.
Once i spawned again i asked what the **** was going on. It turned out that my char was in NC armor, as a TR.
Unfotunately it was only for him. I coulda had fun with that.

I have yet to see any real TK happen, only accidental stuff, etc, I think that one of the best TK things I ever saw happend to me last night..
I was flying my mos on a strief run on a vanu max standing on the top of an air tower... but right wehn I am ontop of him, I see hit explode and a stream of shells go right twords me through where the max used to be... they all hit my mos, shreading it without a problem...
as I was crashing I saw what happened, a Vanguard on the other side of the tower had picked that time to hit the max, they ended up killing it and prob fired a few extra rounds to be sure it was dead... they didnt see me since I was on the other side, so I ran right into the fire
feel sorry for the guy that got the grief as he must of been shocked to see a mos replace the max he just killed and have it pop too... but it was very funny
