This is a thread for ranking the Anti-Vehicle empire speicific and common pool weapons. Since its a broad topic ive given several fields. Feel free to put in one word/one weapon answers or to post explanations behind your feelings.
Weapons to choose from include the Decimator, Rocklet, Punisher (2nd fire), Lancer, Striker, and Phoenix.
Rank what you feel to be the best weapon vs:
1. Heavy armor (empire specific tanks, AMS, and Sunderer)
2. Medium armor (galaxies, lightning, deliverer)
3. Light armor (MAXs, empire specific buggies, reavers, ANT)
4. No armor (basilisk, harasser, mosquitoe, wraith)
5. Infantry
6. Fast moving vehicles
7. Slow moving vehicles
8. Long range
9. Medium range
10. Close in combat
Hmm let me think.
Done: Lancer, only decimator inside 7 meters.

Really? You think a Lancer beats all of the other anti vehicle weapons in every category? Despite the fact that the Striker has lock-on and higher damage, and the Phoenix has TOW capabilities?
Me thinks you havent played the game..

Tek, methinks you haven't played. You are talking about empire-specific weapons. You have ONE choice. So if he's Vanu, he uses the lancer, can't use phoenix or striker. So it's valid if he chooses it.

Wow, guys. Way to totally ignore the topic. How does "Im Vanu so i can only use a lancer" equal "Lancer is the best at everything"?
Lemme add a disclaimer:
This thread is ONLY looking for responders who have played the game and have some TINY, MINISCULE, understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the various empire specific and common pool A-V weapons.
If you have ONLY used the lasher (or other weapon) and NEVER been in combat or seen any other people use A-V weaposn then DONT post.
K, thanks :)
[edit]: Why do people have to be so immature over such a simple topic? Just use a tiny amount of brainpower and post something relevant. No one gives a crap if you can write something stupid and asinine.

I usually don't get involved in things like this, but Tek, you seem somewhat hypocritical. You were the first person to make an immature comment. It is quite possible that Seer believes the speed that the lancer has outweighs the benefits of the others. However, instead of actually asking for why he believes the lancer is the best, you belittle his statement and accuse him of not playing the game. Of course, this is not to excuse Angelos, who isn't helping much.

"Hmm let me think.

Why the hell would I want to ask someone like that to explain their answer? So i can hear him say "Duh, cause Vanu roxorz joor boxorz"?
Ive gotten 3 responces, 0 of them answering answeing the thread. Ill go try the VN board and see if anyone has an IQ above 40 there
Let this thread die. Ive given up on your people.

Up close: Decimator. Rocklet can also do some nice damage with it's secondary fire.
Anti Air and medium range: Striker or Lancer.
Stationary, dumb, or very slow targets from a longer range: Phoenix
Fast agile targets from a range: Probably Striker, maybe a Lancer if you're skilled with it but definately not the Phoenix or Decimator. Killing anything fast or agile from a range is tough, though, unless they're nice enough to hold still.

Well, I took down a reaver today with 2 decimator rounds, so I'm satisfied with it :p
Haven't tried toe phoenix..probably won't, they kinda gimped it beyond usefulness. I tried it in the VR, and the thing can't turn for crap, and it has a 5 second timer on it now I believe, making anything not slow, and not within a couple hundred feet of you an impossible target. Course I don't really care if its gimped because as I mentioned above, I'm satisfied with the decimator :D
I have used all the AV weapons, and I prefer the lancer in almost every situation. Versus air, versus ground, big, small, fast, far away, close up, slow, etc. It's accuracy and speed outweigh the comparatively small payload, and I'm able to chase off or destroy targets in a shorter absolute time period.

tell you what, the phoenix sure isnt even near the best anymore, hell its barely viable, it might as well be dumbfire :/ I like the striker and lancer ALOT more, well i did like using them till i spec'd out of AV and went to SA, thumper is da pwn. :)

The AV max, hands down :p I have a much better chance of taking out a tank or air or a max in my AV max than I do with my phoenix or a decimator (unless the yare not moving, etc :p )
*and neo, why do the vanu have an eva? You are out to destroy the world! I knew it! AHHHHHH!!!!!!! but wait.... if you get shingi, and I guess TR would get Asuka, I would at least get Rei, and even though Asuka is the best, at least I dont have to worry about Rei dying :p or have the very annoying-should-be-targeted-with-vanguard-every-day-of-existance shingi :p *ok, enough eva ;)

Me, even though i am Vanu i would use a lancer on impoultry, chikens, light armored, and stationary targets. other wise a styrker cuz of lock-on

Good stuff guys.
Well it looks like theirs a general tie going on between lancer and striker.
From what ive read (im not in Beta), the striker has lock on and a much higher payload while the lancer seems to have a higher ROF with good acuracy.
Question: what is the ROF like on the striker and how fast do the projectiles move on the lancer and striker?
Oh, and to whoever said they shot down a reaver with a decemator:
That musta taken some skill! From what i read decimators were dumb fire heavy payload rockets that moved pretty slowly.

na, a lot of reavers are very bad piolits, they just sit still and fire, I take them out all the time with my AV max w/o trying :p
You cant just sit still and fire at stuff in a reaver... it is soo funny to see them fly low and start shooting into doors  and jsut sit there blocking the door, I mean a handgun can take them out if given long enough :p

The Lancer is almost as fast as the Bolt Driver, sniper rifle, if not the same speed(it's damn fast) with a six round clip. It has a charge-up time before each shot, but it's around a second or less. The Lancer also seems to work better against infantry then actual armored units. Three shots to kill someone in Reinforced, one shot to kill an Infiltrator, and somewhere in between those two for the other armors.
The Striker has a three round clip, while in the primary dumbfire mode, it can fire off all three rockets relatively fast. While in the secondary lock-on mode, it takes around 2 seconds to fire off each rocket. The lock-on capabilities still seem bugged. Lock-on is achieved from the knees of ones avatar rather than the weapon. This makes locking a very difficult task if you are more elevated than your target. Damage wise, the Striker is average, stronger than the Lancer, but weaker than the Phoenix. Mesquitos will die if all three rockets hit, while a Reaver requires five. I believe, not sure right now, that all MAXs take four.
That about all I know about the two.

Wow, that lancer is really starting to sound sweet. Im thinking, once i get stationed in Europe (US-AF), depending on the internet speed i can get i might go Vanu.
Low ping with a heavy 'insta hit' weapon that can take out vehicles AND infantry? Sounds like a sweet deal to me.
While I havent gotten much of a chance to use the Lancer, I have been on the reveiving end of it quite a bit.
Like Ouroboros alread said, the projectile travels at about the same speed as the rounds from the bolt driver, so a skilled shooter can take out infantry pretty damn fast. I think it does the most damage vs infantry than any other AV weapon.
Per shot though, it's the weakest of the 3, so it takes like 2-3 lancers with support to become a serious threat vs heavy armor.
The striker's the best against air targets though. Not only can the lock warning be used to chase people off even if you're out of ammo, but those missiles are frighteningly manueverable. Really a fun weapon to use if you have the time to swap ammo types :)
But as it's already been mentioned, the lock function's still pretty flakey. Hopefully they'll fix it so your missiles dont lose tracking if you stand behind a 2 foot high rock or something.
I wont even touch on the phoenix though. It's beyond obvious that it's far from finished. I will say though that it's the bottom of the barrel.
