Okay, if you are here, you saw the movie. FUCKING BAD ASS YES? Wolverine is the fucking man. Nice that they let him loose to kill this time. Loved Nightcrawler.
Poor Jean Grey, nice cliff hanger, is she dead or isnt she? Got to wonder why Bobby (iceman) didn't just FREEZE the fucking water.
Ah well, they got to show Wloverines softer side.
Pyro, what an idiot. Loved the sneak peek at the other mutants.
Nasty way Wolverine killed old girl eh? Adamantium infusion has got to suck.. but is she really dead? Eternal pain man....

If you noticed the computer screen it read Remy L'beau which is Gambit. Secondly yes the movie was amazing. How many people did Wolverine kill? Secondly Collosus looks damn cool too. And no Jean Grey is not dead. At the first glance of fire in her eyes i knew what this meant. In the comics Jean had the Phoenix inside her, this massive telekinetic force or some crap like that the had been dwelling inside her. if you noticed at the last seen or so you could see an image under the water, it was in the form of a Phoenix. Such a great movie.

Remy was listed directly above Eric Lenshier (Magneto) in the files at Stryker's office.
I wondered why Iceman didn't freese up the dam before it burst, but once it did that was probably just too much water.
I like Pyro, thought he was quite the angst-ridden teen-mutant badass. And he'll make a great villain because of his connection with the school.

omg yes that movie was so badass.
And, like said above Jean Grey's gonna move into the phoenix "form" and be much more powerful. you can tell this from the shape in the water, the fire in her eyes, and the fire around her body at the end.
I enjoyed the whole movie.
i especially liked the fight between wolverine and the girl (what was her name? cant put my finger on it, or was she just made up for the movie?)...
i give it 2:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Yea man that movie kicked ass!!!! My favorite part was when Magneto ripped the iron out of that dudes blood, OMFG that was sweet.
Ok let's get the replies out of the way. :p
- Wolverine was indeed bad ass, i loved Nightcrawler too(always have). No Jean isn't dead (more later) and Bobby probably couldn't freeze all that water, his powers aren't honed in enough yet. Unless that girl (Yuriko Oyama aka Lady Deathstrike) is a god she won't be back. :D
- I also wish Remy was in the movies and that Rogue was older like in the comics. I love Remy's french suave rebel thing he has going as well as Rogue's southern "suga" and their relationship.
- Yeah Colussus was sweet but i SOOO wish they showed more of my favorite X-man. :( Also in the comics Jean does not have the phoenix in her.
*warning boring comic book explanation*
Now i don't remember it all but in the comics there was this whole other race(Shi'Ar) that came into contact with the X-men, it began when some evil dude from the Shi'Ar tried to steal a immensly powerful crystal. This led to the crystal's protecter (The phoenix) to possess Jean and with Jean's help save the galaxy. Jean lost her life in the process though. That's pretty much how i remember less the boring details, i could be wrong though. :)
-As stated yeah Jean will be back as the phoenix and/or dark phoenix. As for Yuriko no she wasn't made for the movie although she was modified. In the comics she is a past lover of Wolvie who swore revenge on him because she thinks he stole her father's research, she had cybernectic claws implanted on her to do so.
Ok now my thoughts :
W0000000t!!!! ^-^
I loved it. Wolvie was very cool in the mansion fight scene. Pyro played his role very well, it was clear what type of guy he was. I like the phoenix thing but it felt a bit rushed. As stated i REALLY wish they would have shown more of my sweet Colossus as well as the ever so spiritual and cool NightCrawler. I was glad to see that Rogue is coming into her powers a bit more and thought the injecting metal into the guard's body was brilliant on Mystique's behalf. :D
I'm anxious to see if they show more of Storm-NightCrawler romance or follow the comics and go for a Storm-Wolvie. Also wondering how they will play on the phoenix and Pyro stories. Also hope to see Colossus in the 3rd. ;)

From what I understand, Gambit (my personal favorite) didn't make the cut but may show up in the DVD edition. I personally think Jean is still alive (based on Xavier's comment at the end) but if they go with the Pheonix thing, I hope they do it well because IMO they can easily screw it up big time.
All told, I liked the movie so much, I can't wait to see it again and I am certainly looking forward to X-Men 3.
Now we have to wait for the Matrix and The Hulk to show up in theatres!
[PS: I loved Nightcrawler in the movie. I always liked the character but I feared they would screw him up in the movie. I'm glad they didn't!]

If anyone is curious, the guy that played Gambit (or at least the scene that was filmed but cut) is James Bamford (http://www.stuntscanada.net/james_bamford.htm) . You have to scroll down about 2/3's of page to the 'Stunt Perfomer' section to see the X2 credit.
Also, did anyone catch the brief cameo of Beast? Doctor Hank McCoy?

Nightcrawler = Extremly bad ass in the beginning, but then almost useless except as transport at the end. Good character, needs more action scenes.
Wolverine - OMFG, could they have picked a better actor? Hes great for comic and action purposes. What do you teach? Art. ROFL.
Jean- She couldnt have done that from INSIDE the jet?
Bobby - Freezing would have been worse, especially if it saved them. Water expands when frozen, this would not have helped. He better do more then make ice tea and cool beer next movie.
Rogue - meh....didnt like her the first movie. Got better, but not much.
X- How would he let a child talk him into genocide? Finding others, sure. But killing them all?
Mystique - God could she get any cooler in battle? Just all around rapage, then ending it with the casual slide out the door giving them the middle finger.
Magnito - "too much iron in your blood" ROFL that was a good scene, along with the grenades as well.
Jacked dude who turned silver = Colossus? - Looked good, next movie a must have.
Gambit - I think hed be hard to make as a character from a film makers point of view, but im all for seeing him

Loved the movie. Loved nightcrawler. One question though, if Prof. X can kill people just be thinking about them, then what is the purpose of the X-Men? It seems he could just sit there in his wheelchair, making hits on people from inside cerebro (well, all except Magneto, hes got that cool helmet.) I liked the scene with Wolverine in that guys house.
"Who are you?"

about the Reloaded twins.
im not even close to 100% sure about the twins...i havent really looked into it, but this is what ive taken from the trailers.
Neo says "hmm upgrades."
maybe he is referring to the twins as like enhanced agents that can like "shift" in and out of the matrix so they can phase through objects and stuff.
again, speculation from me hehe.

Just got back from seeing X2, X2= Teh 1337! :D
Plain and simple, badass movie, wolverine was the best.
Prof X needs the X-men because 1- He's not eternal, he will be gone "soon" and he wants to make sure that someone will carry on his legacy 2- He can't bridge the gap between mutants and humans alone 3- He's not a killer, he's not even much of an action guy, he's the sideline player, giving but not doing the orders
Awesome movie... but their attempt at drama at the end sorta failed with Cyclops... I laughed my ass off at him, as did the 5 other guys I watched it with. Hugh Jackman? Very good in that scene.
I wasn't expecting some sorta Mystique-Wolverine love thing... Hah, "No one leaves a scar quite like you." That made me laugh too. But the way that was done, with her changing forms to Jean, Storm, Rogue and back to Jean was really cool.
"I can help."
"Help them."
That pissed me off. Damn... Colossus woulda been an amazing addition, but there really was no part for him in the rest of the movie... here's hoping for X3.
Jean... *sighs softly* They brought out the Phoenix way too quick... and for the wrong reasons. I can't remember, but did they show images of Jean's dreams? Maybe that's a glimpse into X3? Still, she did more this time, I'm thankful for that. But when everyone thought she died... Cyclops... ROFL.
I thought there was going to be some NightCrawler-Mystique romance... they had one brief convo, but he seemed so enthralled by her. *shrugs*
Halle Berry - There's not much to say... simply... :hitit:

Man if they do that type of story in X3 that will be one thing they REALLY change from the comics, other things are slight modifications but going from Mother-Son (comics) to lovers would be very weird for comic fans.

Just went to see X2 today...
I have to say nightcrawler is my favorite character. I've always been a huge fan of flight and/or teleportation, and nightcrawler has it all. The way he can just teleport around wherever he wants (w/in range I suppose..) is just awesome. There should definatly be more of him in the next movie.
Now, I never followed the xmen comic books, so I didn't know about the whole jean/phoenix thing. I thought she really had killed herself when the water was rushing around, and my explaination was that hey, she does firey things, so if she turns herself into a big ball of fire and then gets crushed by water, he's extinguished which = death. However, @ the end when you see the shadow moving across the water.. I was pretty sure it had something to do with jean, but I thought it was just a jet or something.. not a phoenix.
Colossus definatly should be in the next movie.
I really thought magneto was gonna be a good guy and save the mutants/humans there. Very nice plot twist.
Wolverine Vs. Weird Fingernail Lady? Awesome.
Pyro.. learned to hate that guy..
Mystique.. I almost thought she was gonna betray Magneto while she was telling Jason what to do. I still think she will in X3.
I want to see more of Storm. In the cartoon version on TV she could fly by herself (I suppose by getting the wind to lift her up). That'd be nice to see.
Cyclops - didn't play a big role in this film, woulda been nice to see more.
Gambit - Man I really wish he was in there. He was always my favorite in the cartoon show. I can see why he was left out though.. think about being a director with 10k playing cards flying out of a guy's sleeve.. you know that's hard to do...
Iceman - They did a good job w/ him, he shoulda played a larger role however.
Rogue - What was her power again, I can't remember.. someone help me out here
Khronos
2003-05-05, 06:14 AM
Rogue absorbs other mutants' powers when she touches them. It also hurts the mutant and makes them weaker for a period of time.
You can see this when she touches Pyro's leg and puts out the fire to save the police officers.

X2 was awesome.
As an old school fan I gotta say they did some things VERY right.
1) Wolverine said "bub" at least twice, and went berserk... no more soft fluffy wolvie like in the first.
2) They kept nightcrawler devout. I was worried they'd cut what was an important part of his character in such an ensemble cast.
3) They kept the whole school thing, but minimized it and shuffled it off to the side nicely so we could concentrate on what mattered... very well done.
4) Phoenix!!!
(for the non-uber-dorks out there... Jean saves the team durring a re-entry from space, the radiation is killing her... Alien entity comes to her and offers to save her, jean says yes, alien puts her to sleep, make a genetic copy, WHALAA Phoenix. Phoenix is all powerful meanwhile, Jean sleeps on the bottom of the atlantic. Great power and all Phoenix, who doesn't remember that she really isn't Jean, goes crazy, becomes Dark Phoenix. Wipes out a few billion people in different star systems, feels bad, kills herself. Few years later, and a Madelyn Pryor later, Jean wakes up, takes up old life. Don't see them doing that story, but just for you who have never read it)
Of course they did a few things wrong.... well sorta.
1) Rogue should no be able to even briefly touch bobby, yet alone kiss him. Should have knocked him cold. (pun intended)
2) DeathStrike. IS NOT A MUTANT. Never was, they did a good job of implying things about her, but they left too much of an impresion that she was just another muttie... she's a cyborg... with motivations all her own for going after wolvie. Nice to bring back a Wolvie MAin-stay, but when dealing with the Weapon-X project, it would have been far more appropriate to use Sabertooth or even Silver-Fox (both in the project with wolvie)
3) Stryker. not really a problem, just an amalgrym of several characters from the books... but if they wanted to pay hommage to teh fans it woulda been hella cool if they'd given him one hand (all you old school fans know why!)
All-in-all a great movie, woulda been hard to imagine it much better!

Iceman didn't freeze the dam for a couple of reasons I think. First I seriously doubt his powers were developed enough to even try that. Second would be once the water was inside the damn (after it started to crack) freezing it would be bad since the water would expand causing even more structural damage Finally if you're talking about freezing it once they were outside and trying to take off that would be a really bad idea. If you noticed, him freezing things takes some time at his current stage of development meaning that rather than creating a protectove wall, all he would have done is freeze part of the water. I'd rather have just water coming at me than water mixed with large chunks of ice :p
Th reason Jason Styker was able to talk X into trying to obliterate the human race is because that's what he does, he manipulated people by basically taking over their minds with illusions.
Gambit is one of my favorite X-men, but I'm glad he's not in it (no I don't count a 1 second shot of his name in a computer). He'd have to either be a teenager, which I'd hate, or they'd have to trow out the whole Rouge/Gambit thing which is one of the defining traits of his character and probably the only reason he stayed with the X-men instead of being a ciminal. That and I can just imagine the butchering of his accent
Collossus, another one of my favorites, was also in the movie. I sorta wish they would have been a little more true to him ( he's not a very buff 16 year old he's a very buff man in his 20;s with a thick Russian accent) but watching people try to shoot him then seeing those people fly through a wall was priceless.
The Gean Grey phoenix thing doesn't follow the comic books because that's a rather involved storyline that would end up being three movies by itself if it followed the comic books to the letter.
Nightcrawler is one of my favorites but he never struck me as the time to kick ass type ala wolverine in the comic books. While I have loved the opening fight scene and one more fight scene with him owning people would have been cool, I'm kind of glad there wasn't one.
Lady Deathstrike was nothing like what she's supposed to be, but her fight with Wolverine was great anyways. Would have been nice to see them include the actual story behind why she'd want to kick his ass, but oh well. On a side not I'm so glad they finally let Wolverine let loose in that Mansion attack sequence. That is exactly how Wolverine would have reacted, stabbing people left and right lol
Hank McCoy was in the move in his pre beast form on a debate on TV. Makes me wonder if he'll appear in the 3rd one (hope so Beast is a kinda cool character). Oh yeah and Wolverine definately should have hit that. Sure she's blue, but really she's whatever you're in the mood for :D
For Gambit they could simply use the cartoon guy, he's excellent (i wished they did that for Colossus and Rogue) of course that's assuming those people know how to act and could play the parts. :D
As for Beast i agree they should put him in but as Ebert & Ropert said they already have too many characters and they have a hard time following them all so most likely he won't be there or will do a lame 3 sec apperance a la colossus. :(

They're ghosts, deleted programs or rather the remains thereof. This gives them some neato powers like their ability to go ethereal. They live their "lives" like rockstars apparently and fight Neo and the others to preserve the Matrix and thereby guarding thier lifestyle...or something like that ;)

Just saw X2 and it was much better than the first X-Men imo. I was kinda shocked by the Jean Grey thing, and I thought that was going to be where Iceman stepped up and "officially" became one of the X-men. I never read the X-men comic books, I knew the charachters from the cartoon, and I remember Phoenix. As soon as I saw her die, I knew that she was Phoenix(only from what I remembered and of course, the way her eyes and hands glowed orange in the movie.).
Thanks to Hunter-R for explaining the whole thing, I really wasn't sure how that went down.
I also thought slipping "Beast" in there was kinda cool. It probably only stuck out for those of us who actually knew who Hank McCoy was. :)

Well they can't give her Ms. Marvel's powers in her current movie form. If she had those powers they would have had to scrap Bobby(or make him older), make Rogue older and perhaps include Gambit, it would have been very cool for us fans but would have changed the movie stories a lot.

Is anyone worried about the possibility that another movie may be extremely difficult? I keep thinking how unlikely it is that Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman will return for a third installment, and as you know, when you start having to replace characters the movies start going down hill.
That's what makes the next two installments of The Matrix so exciting, everyone is returning for each movie. Although, maybe this is proof that you CAN get important actors to return for sequels.
As long as the movie continues to make an s-load of money, I think it's a good possibility they will all return, but I worry about their fragile ego's being hurt because they don't want to be typecast into a specific role. Halle Berry is an Oscar winner now, she may be too good to play Storm.

Well if you go on the website you can see a press conference and they actually talk about her oscar (among other things) and by the way they all talk and everything they seem like a big gang of friends and see says she really enjoyed coming back for the sequel cause they all knew each and could just have some fun together so hopefully they will all still feel the same way for the 3rd 4th 5th and 6th installment. ;)

The question I have is why wouldn't Jean levitate 140lbs instead of 10's of 1000's of pounds of water to get her ass out of dodge? That just strikes me as stupid, but its prob. for a story line type thing.. Its all good though. =)

EL BUMPO-
Just saw the movie - so much to say -
But the Gambit thing- I heard a director say that Gambit's character was too complex for them to develop in the movies, so if he were to get one, it would have to be his own movie - all by himself.
I kept looking for Cable to pop out- maybe x3.
I thought in the comics Stryker had powers?
Did it seem like to anyone else they were implying Wolvie only had his claws 15 years?
Why didn't pyro or iceman fight AT ALL in the mansion?
In the comics- pyro's name isn't John is it? I was thinking it was like paul-
I think they will all be coming back for the bling - movie's already made 160 mil.
more to come-

Yeah, they did say that Wolverine only had his claws for 15 years. I think they did it like that so his character would be easier to understand. Dumbed down for the movies basically.
Also, I think if Pyro and Iceman would have put up a fight in the mansion, there wouldn't be much of a fight. The same could be said for Colossus and many other of the mutants there. For the storyline purpose though, they were scared little kids more than anything else.
Seeing it a second time, I was able to see things I didn't before, like Iceman temporarily freezing the dam. Guess I'll have to go again to see what else I can see.
