Is it possible to edit the skins in planetside? I'm pretty sure I heard it's not possible before but I don't remember. And if that's not possible, is it possible to change the skins around? Let's say you don't like the look of a gun, could you change the names or folders around so you could see your empire's gun as another empire's gun? Or if you don't like how your empire looks, but like their guns/vehicles. Can you change the names/folders around to make tr look like nc or nc to look like vs or tr to look like vs etc.?

That doesn't seem like something that would happen in an MMO game, where most of the data is stored on Sony's servers and not on your PC. Perhaps you can, but it just doesn't seem likely for an MMO.

If people could Skin edit, they'd probably make sniper rifles bright flashing gold, cloakers pure white, etc. just to exploit the system.

I haven't tried it with PlanetSide, but it is possible with MMOs. Just have to be a little sneakier about it..
For instance, I had a separate folder of 'edits' for DAOC that I had to copy into my real directory every time I logged in. The program will erase your edits every time you start the launcher.
About cheating, maybe it's possible.. I don't see how it could really help you that much.. I always editted just for fun. Have done it in every FPS I've played..
Bottom line: While it may be possible it's probably not smart, and especially since it's beta you're way more likely to b0rk up your installation. Don't mess with it.

In my opinion, anybody that hacks something in their game forgoes all their rights to complain about the game not working for them. :) Just like all those 1337 h4x0r d00ds that installed Linux on their Xbox's.

As far as I know there is, nor will there be any skin mods or redos of any kind on the modles by outside people. The PS staff will be the only ones to make changes.

An FPS really needs security so it's most unlikely it's possible. Also, asking to find out if you cna change textures is a bit odd. Also, I found a bug where everything screwed up in the textures. At fist every enemy was white. HEh, easy t snipe but I restarted after taking some screens. I'll have them up soon.
