I have tried (I dont have BR6 to use the melee booster to help me out) to be an actual assassin. Grab a knife and head out to the battle field and just assassinate people without them actually knowing your presence.

I was wondering, how much does knifing give away your cover as an infil. Ive been stuck using a beamer cause the knife wont kill anyone (yet).

What you're talking about is considered "sniping". Where you kill without being seen.

Assassinating is killing one important person.

So unless you plan on going around and killing only commanders, then you're not really "assassinating" anyone.

And yea, I know I really didn't help ya :D

It depends on how you go about knifing...if you just tap the mouse button then you will only be visible for a fraction of a second but if you hold the button down throughout the attack you *duh* stay visible that entire time. Secondary mode on the knife is horribly loud so I don't use it to much, 3 hits with meele and they usually don't even realize what's going on or 2 hits with secondary and they know exactly whats happenin...choice is yours.

Just sneek up on them with the AMP and unload a full clip, that usually kills anything from reinforced armor down with out having to reload, if you hit them with the full clip at close range.

yep, or if your NC, get the Mag scatter pistol, up close it will eat through anything under a max rather fast.

Infiltrators can usually kill anyone with an AMP or Scatterpistol, up close, if they don't know the infiltrator is there. I've died many times, only getting off a shot or two (drawing the gun, turning, finding the muzzle flash, firing) before I die, and that's including when I'm in Reinforced.

As for knives, it's tough. The Vanu knife is good and bad at the same time. It's good because it's very quiet, but it's bad because it frickin' glows. I don't know if I'd rather have a glowy knife or a chainsaw knife, personally. Either way, it takes 2 full strength hits with a melee booster to kill people, and you'll almost always land the first hit. The time between the first and the second hit is when things go wrong though, as they will probably start moving around, switch on Darklight, activate a shield implant, use a health kit, or do something else to try and avoid the killing blow.

So anyway, in conclusion, it's easier to kill with an AMP or Scatterpistol, but knife kills get much more recognition.

Use a gun. It's safer and deadlier. Also harder to turn around and kill someone who's shooting. BTW, assaination is a fancy word for murder basically as it in one of it's meanings(they're both the same basically) it just says to destroy and there's more if you want.
