Why are the NC down in population? Is the MAN keeping them down?

What is it that is keeping the NC rercuit base down? (According to that poll) What is it that is making them less appealing? I know the Vanu guys really like the tech. What's making the NC less appealing to the masses? Is it colors? Could it be the shot guns? People think they have no long range weapons? Let's keep most of the comments above the belt . I'm curious. Don't bring up the rocket scientist geeks who are posting the queef code.

i dunno why. NC have no downsides it seems and even their story is better imo. i personally am going to be NC right off the bat then experiment from there.

Well a lot of people don't like slow powerful guns over the rest.(me for one, shotguns are ok but i prefer nearly any other gun. :p)

Some don't like their backstory. (me again, getting freedom by crushing others isn't the best thing)

And those colors aren't the snaziest. :p


In short it's simply a matter of personal choice, some like them others don't. :)

Those polls don't mean a whole lot anyways. I would guess that 75% or more of the people who will play the game either A. Haven't heard of it yet or B. Don't want to waste time reading about it until its released.

I should have clarified, I know that the poll isn't scientific, but it is interesting that they are behind. I immediately picked them. I just wonder what it is that is keeping people from jumping on the bandwagon. Just curious. I know most of the people flooding the forums now and in the next few months won't have a clue. There should be a fact site, with *proven* facts about each Faction. That would be cool. I know there is sorta stuff like that, but it would be "nooberific".

I had a tough time picking between the NC and TR. I really like the Judge Dread look of the NC, but in the end the High ROF of the TR guns won me over.

I chose the Vanu because they seemed very offensive to me, which is my style of play. The NG seem like very strong defenders, opposite to my style, and the TR, well they are just communists. =P

Well... TR troops look fairly cool, seem to pack massive firepower, and are portrayed in a way that they seem rather balanced.

And say what you want about the purple, but VS troops have great-looking armor, unique weapons, and seem oriented towards mobility and flexibility.

Meanwhile, what's the NC have? Ugliest armor in the game? Check. Ugliest colors? Check. An entirely one-dimensional playing style? Check.

Don't get me wrong, I have every intention of playing NC, because that single dimension of play style they'll offer appeals to me, but I'll really pine for the VS mobility advantage (especially since I want so badly to play a jump trooper).

Personally, I just have this feeling that most of the servers are going to see the TR and NC forming some sort of unofficial alliance against the overly-populated VS. I mean, is there any doubt that all those damned 1337 kiddies are going to flock to the VS after release?

Polls give a general idea of what the public thinks and so far looks like TR is going to be the bigger populated one. I don't think people are going to go straight to Vanu because for some reason they see purple and think "OMG gay color! I'm going to be the r337 black and red" 3/4 of the people are basing their choice on empire by what the colors of the armors are.

TR: Very cool RoF. Ok vehicles. Ok armors. Ok backstory

NC: Very nice damage up close. Ok vehicles. Bad backstory. Ugly armors.

VS: Very nice mobility. Very cool armors. Cool vehicles. Good backstory.

The population?

1st TR:30-40%
2nd NC:25-35%
3rd VS:20-30%

Well yeah probably.

My opinion of the armors and vehicles is far from being the general concensus. Most think the VS have "gay purple" armor and ugly hover buggies. I do not. :)

And the VS have negative points i just didn't mention them because we do not yet know how negative they will be. We know they will have less armor than the other 2 factions but how much less? And we don't know what the damage and RoF will be either.

In short as usual we will as to wait and see when the game arrives.... *sigh* man this game is taking time to get here. :p

Dio, here is my take on things.

NC = The freedom fighters. Very high damage with slower rate of fire. Decent mobility. Their colors are alright and their armors are decent looking. The only downside is that their empire specific weapons have short range, but they have have very good armor with shields.

NC if you like to blow shit up.

TR = The tyrannical empire. Low damage with fast rate of fire. Decent mobility. Their colors are awesome, but those damn goggles make the armors look super gay. The only downside is thier terrible damage for how many bullets they can throw at you, but at least they have decent armor.

TR if you like to fill things full of holes.

VS = The wannabe aliens. Moderate damage with moderate rate of fire. Good Mobility. Thier colors are pretty funky, but their armors look so sweet. Their only downside is that all of thier energy weapons make it imposible to be a lucrative killer with purple and green beams flying everywhere and thier lack of armor.

VS if you like anal probing and you are anti-human, heh.

well i wouldnt be surprised if part of whats keeping people from NC is the lame RPing going on on the NC forums.

ive got nothing against RPing..but thats not exactly what I would call alot of the posts on the NC boards.. alot of them are like poorly written comic books.. which is pretty bad :P.. considering that comics books are so corny they make me wanna puke sometimes...the NC posts are WORSE than that.

I actually prefer the look of the NC armor. The goggles on TC do not look that great to me, and the Vanu armor just rubs me the wrong way. I just like the general futuristic look of the NC armor, call me geek :D

Plus the weaponry appeals to me. I love using shotguns in online games, nothing beets the feeling of wasting a l33t sniper with a hail of buckshot from two feet :rawr:. The high power, fewer shot philosophy also fits well with my playstyle, I tend to pick my shots more than spray and pray.

Then again, I could be totally off, and completely hate them after only five minutes of play. We will only know when it ships :D

I can only hope I can get this thing within a week of release for once. Amazon = teh suq for getting crap shipped on time.

Firstly: I really don't understand why people are bitching about colours. Who really gives a damn? You're not going to be ogling your mates while you play, you're going to be shooting the enemy. And if you really cared that much, you'd play a different empire to the one you want to be, so you can look at the armours more :p

And even though the NC have less numbers, do you honestly think each and every one of them will be equal in skill? And will they all be playing at the same time? I think not. As long as there is around 30-40% of each empire, it will be very fair.

I agree whoracle. Fish you do realize the #1 reason behind almost anyones choice for an empire is the colors and what they look like. Why do you think TR is winning? It's not because they have a fast rate of fire. I bet about 1/2 of the people that chose TR don't know anything about any of the empires, they just chose it because the color scheme is a good one. Frankly I think the purple is cooler but black/silver/red is still damn cool. NC...well... it has Blue I'll give them that but it just doesn't work well with the yellow. :rawr:

I simply cannot believe that people agree with me on the NC. I don't like their armor style one bit. The colors are :confused: but the models are :ugh:.
