Just a thought.

We all know what a griefer is right? its a person who gets his kicks out of ruining your fun.

So, lets say that a griefer targets you as his victim for one reason or another...and decides to jump in front of your gun and get himself TKed(team killed)..giving you "grief points".. now..given the right circumstances..like having an AMS spawn point right next to you..he could possibly even spawn and hunt you down and do it again until you get a temp ban.

its unlikely that he could hunt you down easily though..so what if he had a friend revive him after every death so he would be right next to you still? or what if he had a group of friends all jumping in front of your gun..

still not incredibly likely..but its a possibility..and I was wondering what people thought we could do to prevent someone going to those measures to be a jerkoff.

With a world as large as PS's losing someone will be an easy task. If you have someone follow you, you could take a dropship to a different location, dropships are single occupant only and u can drop just about anywhere on the planet, i dont think it will be a problem.

I havnt haerd, but i'm not sure if Team vs. team your teamate takes 100% damage, in which case no 1-second burst from a infantry weapon would kill em... as for vehicles I'm not sure... I dont think I'd mind if it was harder to kill a teamate(slightly), simply to prevent a sniper from getting 'nailed' with a Tk cause someone in light armor wanted to jump in front of your rifle...

lol yea this does happen a lot in many FPSes. Actually it happened to me last night on America's Army. I was laying down cover fire with a SAW and some idiot decided to run right in front of me as I was shooting. He kept trying it until finally he got votekicked off the server.

Anyways, this has and always will happen in any FPS. The only thing you can do is be as careful as you can and try to only fight around with your squad that. If a member of your squad does it, you won't get grief points. However, this leads me to another question. Can't people just join squads and then start TKing the rest of the squad without getting grief points?

Well if a griefer jumps in front of me and think I will continue to shoot when I have a big pretty meat shield between me and the enemy he is sadly mistaken. :D

Also you wont be able to shoot yourself to a ban since your weapons lock up when getting too many grief points.

Can't people just join squads and then start TKing the rest of the squad without getting grief points?
Yes prob. But I would asume that he would be kicked pretty fast. Plus the griefers would be infamous after the first 2-3 times they would do anything like that..

perhaps people like to ruin the game for you, but im sure it will happen barely ever, a game like this, being mmofps, will be played more seriously in my opinion.

Once again our great leader reads my mind.

GET OUT OF MY MIND HAMMA!! I'LL KICK YOUR ASS!

:D

The grief system is there to help prevent TKing and stuff but it's not the only thing, you can complain and they will check it out. Also if (and most likely they will) monitor everybodies stats and they see LoserX has been TKed 3450 out of 3448 deaths i think they'll get the idea. :p

yeah, the grief system in place really prevents you from going too far if ur not trying, alot of warnings then eventual weapons lock. whoever was griefing you would really have to try to get themselves killed once u cant shoot and can only move at 10% max speed

I was also concerned with griefers in the game, but after I looked over what they have planned for the griefing mofo's that feel they need to ruin others fun time I don't think a new kind of griefer will be around.

Now I'm not saying there wont be any griefers but to be a griefer would just plain be ignorant. Why waste your $10-$15 a month just to ruin someone else time is stupid and I hate when people do that.

From what the developers have come up with the grief system seems pretty solid. The grief points stick with the person at all times no matter what character that they may be under at that time. And getting your IP blocked is final. There's no coming back from that. [I'm sure there is but if you go through the trouble to do that you're just sad man SAD!].

Planetside will RULE either way to me. I think I can get past the few hundred griefers there will be to play with the thousand of others that will be playing with mature attitudes. Planetside is close so close I can smell the burning flesh from a fresh lancer blast.

I just can't see someone spending all their time doing that crap. That would be sooooo intensely boring. :) I mean, if some idiot REALLY wants to jump in front of me, I'll gun him down along with my target. I get the fun, he doesn't.

They have to pay to play this game... I doubt we'll need to worry about this.

Yea, It will not be as big of an issue as in free games (free online that is)

You say it won't be an issue because you have to pay but you there is no real downside to running in front of a guy while shooting (except for confirmation that you are an idiot and you have no life and no friends).
