I want my orbital platforms

nothing much to say really, I see this feature still listed in all the advertisments for planetside yet so far all my fighting has taken place on solid ground... well..

I don't think they're as much a physical place as a concept, something in high orbit that allows you to view recon if your a commander or perhaps unleash a superweapon device from.

Back when I started following the game about a year ago, it said that you were orbitally dropped from your commanding space ship using drop ships. I think that would have looked awesome... But the indoors of the ship would have made it lag to hell with alot of people.

not really. Just automate multiple drop ship allocation. Limit spawns into each.
