View Full Version : Dropships, Certificates and continenet popularity
Ill keep it as simple as possible
1. What does the dropships fly like, and how easily is it took down and takes things down.
2.What is the maximum amount of certs you can learn?
3. What is the popularity on the 2 snow islands, the one with the cliffs and the one that is just plain snow?
Please answer and also im not in beta but if you dont use voicecom are you still able to type to chat? Or do you need a microphone to speak?

It flies slow as hell. It has 2 guns that can be manned and are not very powerful. It has decent armor and can take a good beating before going down. If a reaver gets its sights on you and you have no reaver escort you will be in trouble.
2.What is the maximum amount of certs you can learn?
Well you start with 4 at lvl 1 then get 1 per lvl form then on out. So max is lvl +3 which is 23.
3. What is the popularity on the 2 snow islands, the one with the cliffs and the one that is just plain snow?
They are both popular, it depends which empire you pick. They do not show the sanct warp gate connections on that web map but if I recall correctly NC and TR connect to the top left one (Ceryshen) and VS and NC connect to esamir. You will find that the continents with the direct connections to the sanct tend to be the busiest and most laggy. I have played on both ice lands a fair amount.
Okay thanx what about the voice com question?
Reavers are the missile planes, how about mosquitos they any good?

not wot ive heard :(
I was planning on driving a mosquito, coz its fast and cool, but I decided not to since I dont like flying 2 much.
I would guess much much much more uses reavers rather than mosquitos.

Mosquito's only have a pee shooter, no rockets. The Galaxy would win if it has gunners and the mosquito is not an amazing pilot. Mosquito's are mostly used to scout and to drop a stealther into bases.

Oh and you need a microphone to speak. You can still communicate by typing though and there are some computer voice commands that are pretty easy to use.
For example hitting V brings up the voice command tree, then V again for Very quick, then Y for YES, N for NO, G for great shot, T for thank you.. etc etc. Your avatar says the phrase and often has an animation as well.
This is also nice for asking for repairs or medics (V then N for Need, then R for Repairs or M for medic).

ceryshen the cliff laden snow continent usually isn't crowded at all. It is a neutral continent though, meaning that none of the factions can warp directly to it from their sanctuaries. NC and VS both have a direct gate from their sanctuaries to esamir though I believe.

Mosquito > Reaver
Faster
More Agile
Better AI
Cheaper
Easier to get (Needs no tech plant)
The only thing that the has the Reaver > Mosquito is anti-tank, but the mosquito will still kill a tank, just not a quickly as the reaver.
By far I think the Skeeter is a much better purchace.

i love the reaver missiles though :/ sooooo sooo fun for taking out groups of people huddled around a vehicle pad or AMS terminal.
The mosquito does own the crap out of the reaver in a dog fight for sure.

Actually if the mosq pilot has a brain in his head the Gal loses everytime. The Gal can't target anything above and behind it. Plus most Gal pilots I've seen tend to start trying to outmanuver Reavers/Mosquitos (which is futile at best) that are attacking making it almost impossible for the gunners to hit anything. Main problem is it takes a lot to kill a Gal with just one mosquito.
Ceryshen I hate with a passion since unless you have a pet Galaxy getting around is hell. It's still a pretty popular spot though. VS usually has Esamir close to lock most of the time. Not sure why more NC don't try to fight there, seems like NS mostly ends up on Amerish, Ceryshen, Solsar or Cyssor.
I play on Markov so can't say for the other servers.

1st off, the gal has 3 guns that people can use (why didnt anyone catch that?)
2nd, the mos is the fighter in this game, I use it a lot (my fav) and I find that if all piolits are the same skill, 1 mos vs 2 reavers is fair, and 1 mos can eat gals all day (if you avoid the fire by staying on top or below it)
The mos is the best AA in the game IMO, also quite good vs inf, and if your good, you can take maxs and tanks from time to time too ;)
Mos = fighter
Reaver = GunShip
Gal = Transport with anti-newb weapons ;)
thanx alot for the replys are there any new aircraft, what the hell is a skeeter?

Yeah so ok, I had been piloting a reaver before the char wipe and I switched to the skeeter after reading this post. Holy crap that thing dominates the sky.
The mosquito trumps the reaver in a dogfight easily. I also found strafing in the mosquito to be really effective. Dive towards an enemy soldier at full speed and let him have it with the chaingun, kill, come around for another pass on a new target.
The reaver's cannons are way more effective against tanks/land vehicles than the mosquito, but the mosquito is still very deadly to vehicles, it just takes it a little longer to kill them.

Yes you can still type chat in voice.
Skeater rules all... love the embarrased looks on Reaver pilots faces as they go down wondering why.
You looking for ground attack and a really short life span, go Reaver...
(funny side story, was gunning on a vanguard last night, and we were attacked by a reaver. As most reaver Pilots he felt he had to stand still to hit us... I put some MG into him, then popped him dead on the nose with the 150... Popped it like a zit.)
Looking for Air suppuriority go Skeater.
Get a musquito, get some skills... own the air!

I was thinking having both a sniper cert and a skeeter cert would be a good combo. You could get to a good sniping location, fire a few rounds. Hop in the skeeter once the enemies find 'ya, dart off in another direction and repeat the process.:)
In a lot of videos and demos i have seen troops like NC's and dirty TR's holding Vanu weapons, how?
I thought the special energy weapons were Vanu only or can you transport shit in vehicles to turrets, stock the turret up for use cus i heard it dont have a console then when its hacked you get all the goodies inside? Is this right or am I wrongly informed. Also how aremost vehicles in this game. Because in the game neocron the biggest of all big tanks is owned like some sort of dirty rat, so I hope the vehicles are tougher than that against some puny pistol!

You can loot enemy weapons off dead bodies.
The vehicles do very well against pistols and such, not so great vs anti vehicle weapons (as it should be).
