I whouldnt totaly discount the thought of genetic engineering though. But this game has a much prouder pedagree then any bastard child bought up by microsoft little single player trifle that i beat in a few hours while at a friends place and never came back to again. No this game is the geneticly enhanced and redisigned stephild of the legendary Tribes (the first one) which i STILL play how many years later.

So my theory on you is:

You have played but since you tried to play it like HALO someone shoved a max cannon up your ass (which you were pissed because it wasnt a MECH) and because the Anti-P ammo you'd been using didnt do squat to it, died repeatedly, because the covenenant dont spawn camp or use small unit tactics.

I've played a little game called Infantry for over 3 years now. The graphics are shit, the gameplay's limited, and the community sucks for the most part. The reason I still play is all the cool people I've met on the game , and the league me and all my friends participate in. That's why I've been playing that shitty 2d overhead shooter since I was a freshman. I can see myself playing PS for a loooooooong time, since a lot of cool people from Infantry are coming over to PS.

Pay to Play is no big deal. $13/month = what?

A pizza? no, these days - a good pizza is about $16 and lasts about 30 minutes.
A case of Beer? nope, hell, the last 12 pack i bought was $13. and lasts about a good nite.
A movie? Depends, you got a date? if you got a date, its way past that $13. That's two hours and doesn't include the over priced diet coke you know your date is gonna get (plus u don't konw if you gonna get lucky)
A rental? Maybe, if you get just one movie a month and never turn it in late. And then you only get it for a few days.
Dinner? Anything outside of fast food costs u a minumum of $13. 9.95 for a decent maincourse, 1.50 for your tea or coke, plus tax and tip.

So $13 is not a lot to spend for entertainment. Hell, if you just play 1 friggin' hour a night for a 30 day month that equals = $.43 an hour. I'm sorry, but your arguments suck, and i've yet to spend thousands a year for software.

Anyway, at the present moment, I happen to be a Planetside fanatic. In order to keep this kind of devotion, however, there needs to be a lot more incentive. Better incentives for base defense. Much better incentives for continent lock-downs. There are many things that could be improved, but that is what MMO styled games are all about. Faith in the devs is what we need, and we should never cease all of our great ideas. Who knows... with the way things are going, some of our ideas may actually become implemented.

I know I'm not the only one that has already grown bored of the game. I REALLY WANT to keep enjoying the game ... but it just feels played out to me as much as I want to deny it. I just don't think having a constant world adds anything substantial to the actual gameplay - so what if you don't have a round that ends, in practice you just have one really long round that lasts from when you log on until you log off. Sure there are different plants and varying geography, but all the bases and towers are the same. same same same, there is just too much sameness here. A game like Battlefield, every map brings different strategies and a different feel .... I think ultimately Planetside is just limited by its own design.

Well I will agree that at the moment there really isn't alot of reason to take bases. Bio Labs allow you to train in the field, Dropship bases allow you to buy Galaxies, and the other facilities uhh... I'm sure they do something but, it's nothing that makes or breaks an Army. There should be something powerful on each island worth guarding ie. a commander can launch nuke shot on a base or the capability to buy advanced weapons, armor, vehicle only if you control a certain facility, maybe you need a radar station on continent or you'll have no map function as a way to blind your enemy. These are just a few suggestions to enhance Planetside. As it stands now it's fun but, I can see a certain freshness level start to drop if the developers let content slip.

It is similar, becuase you use guns in both games, and the VS armor looks kinda like that HALO dudes armor (if you stand on your head, star at it for an hour, and drop some acid. :D).
