I think it'd be cool if they put some sort of heavy .50 machine gun in the game, sorta like the M2HB. It'd have a mediocre rate of fire but the actual projectiles would deal a nasty amount of damage to inf and be decent against vehicles too.

Now before you jump up and say it's too strong here's the catch.

It would be a 2 piece gun, requiring 2 seperate people to carry it, on guy would carry the reciever of the gun, the other would carry the barrel. This means that not any ol joe can just go to the equipment terminal and pick the HMG, he'd have to have a friend help him out. When they get to the site the first guy drops the reciever and the other sticks the barrel on. There you have it, a stationary Heavy Machine gun which can start slamming anything in it's field of fire. Of course, if they wanted to move the HMG they'd have to disassemble it and have 2 guys carry it to the next position. This would add an interesting element to gameplay IMO, in that you'd have to defend your machinegun nests from being overrun by the nme and then turned against you.

I just think it'd be fun to sit back and hammer a base with huge bullets, laying down cover for the rest of my squad to advance. :chomp:

So, what do you think?

I think its great, the galaxy should maybe have the two chainguns on the wings (of sorts) replaced with a gun like you said, or replace all of them?

also the guns on some of the open buggys should have a little more punch?

not too sure how it would affect gameplay.

So you're saying something like a big deployable gun? I dunno...

Remember you don't want anything too powerfull, besides we have spitfires. It's a neat idea, but I'm just not sure it would have a place in planetside.

Not very balanced. The only way this would really work is if it required 2 people to operate it, and not just 1 person to lug around a big piece of it. Super easy to set it up and then hit an equipment terminal with the extra person and have him go out with a normal set of stuff. Put it on the bridge at Gunuku or someplace where you wouldn't have to move it very often, and the drawback becomes nonexistant.

The problem with a 2-man crew is..what does the other guy DO? At least in a tank, the driver can drive and run over people while the gunner does most of the killing. That option doesn't really exist with the second person on a HMG...I don't think many people would find keeping the ammunition belt free of jams to be a worthwhile use of their time in-game.
